Another CHF question

A question for those of you that have performed the fix yourself. Did you have to use a tire jack to move the bar? I've seen a couple of videos that showed the use of the jack. I was wondering if the bar would move easily if I loosened the bolts on the brackets that hold the bushings and the bar to the frame?

I did the CHF fix front and back a couple weeks ago. I used a hydraulic jack. went smoother than I thought.

If you loosen the bushing bolts you won't need the jack. I took my sway bar completely off, put poly lube on the bushings ( only lube that should go on the poly bushings) and reinstalled. Now the bar moves easy

Remember if you loosen those bolt to blue loctite them and torque to 66 ft lbs

If you don't loosen them a small bottle jack will move them easily

I've done at least 5 chf some with lube some without. Never a problem

Thanks for the information. I've been ready to tackle this and just couldn't figure out why i wouldn't just loosen those brackets and adjust to fit.I guess both ways work.

Used a bottle jack on the front Didn’t need one on the back. My problem was the upper location on the front bar lined up exactly with the leaf spring. I had to fight the bolts into the bracket and the link bushings. The struggle was worth the effort, the body roll is greatly reduced.

Well, I did it. It went fairly smooth. Used the jack out of my jeep. Ran into one problem. I had the levelers deployed and when the holes lined up, the spring was in the way and I couldn't get the bolt in. I retracted the levelers and then the bar was to high. Had to put the jack above the bar and push it down a little. Wasn't as bad as it sounds but i got a workout. Took the ACE out for a test drive today and it handled so much better. I have had the ACE for 3 years and i have never been able to drive it with one hand on the wheel. It was tracking really well. Very little push from passing trucks. It wasn't very windy today so I can't say that it handles better in a crosswind. I have to believe that it will though. I'm wondering how much of an improvement I would see doing the rear?

I used a scissors jack out of the daily driver for the front bar. The angles and location wasn't much for leverage and the jack just made things easier.
