There are many reverse osmosis units installed in RV's

Given that they use TFC membranes they really don't do well for part time use

Full time living they work very well with 80 to 90 % rejection

Are you talking city water or from your tanks.

City water, I have a house type GE canister containing a carbon filter at the hose supply. I change the carbon filter frequently. Don't waste your money on one of the anemic blue water filters that attach to the hose. They are seldom changed due to their cost.

Tank water is a bigger issue. Start with sanitizing your tanks. Then fill your tanks without using any kind of filter. If the source of your water is city supplied, it most likely contains some chlorine. If it is from a well, add a few cap fulls of chlorine to your tank. This process eliminates the stagnant and often rotten egg smell from the water that has been in the tanks for a while. Then filter it as it is drawn from the tanks either by an on board carbon filter or using pitchers like Zero or Brita.

As stated in other posts RO systems are not piratical for RV's used occasionally.

I just filter mine at the City Water spigot, and then again with the Coach filtration system.
Two different filters; tackling two different sources of disasters.

We live in and travel mostly in hard water area where the coach is usable year round.

We always use water from the onboard tank. I clean and sterilize the fresh water system at least twice a year. I do have a portable water softener that I use when filling the tank. I have never felt the need for bottled water, normally. When camping near the Atlantic Ocean, some water supplies have sulfur and iron levels so high that the water stinks. In that case, we use the campground showers, buy bottled water and use it to fill the tank. I just have to be carefully not to contaminate the coach's water supply when refilling the onboard tank either from jugs or from campground, water bibb.

We had a similar setup & drank from the faucet & the fridge made crystal clear ice from whatever water source we connected to, no hard water deposits in the shower or sinks, sorry I don't have pictures.
From the hose before entering the coach I had a canister type filter, as shown in the link, with a sediment cartridge going into the softener, similar to the link, out of the softener through another filter with a charcoal cartridge then a short hose connected to the coach or through this system to fill the fw tank.
The softener required a recharging approximately every 30 day depending on the supplied water quality which took about 30 minutes & a container of table salt. Changed filter cartridges about twice year depending on water quality, no often if needed, they're readily available in 2 packs at Walmart for $10-12. All of this mounted in an old milk crate made for easy handling & storing.
This brings a point in my opinion is wrong. I've watched countless folks coil their drinking hose then connect the ends without draining the hose then throw it in a plastic bag. To me this is promoting bacteria growth. I drain my hose, coil up, DO NOT connect ends & store it a vented container plus flush it out with fresh water before connecting to the coach. Just my .02 cents!
Edit;
Shop around, that filter source you linked seems very pricey. I found the filter canisters on the clearance rack at Camping World for $25 each, as I said buy the filter cartridges at Walmart & got the softener at CW on sale with my Good Sams card for less than that $300.

Watching campers use the same hose for potable as black tank flush is always interesting

However if you're going to throw the potable hose on top of or in the same container as the slinky it doesn't matter

Draining your potable hose, disinfecting the connections (first couple of feet of hose also) and hose bib, minimize sun contact with extra hose tucked under the RV , storing separate in a clean container or bag, as noted flushing prior to connecting

Lots of simple things to preserve your water supply and the next camper

Same applies for any external filters or water treatment equipment

Water quality is diminishing rapidly across the country so that peaks interest

I don't trust water tank! We wash, shower, etc with it! Don't cook with or drink it!

Boss lady treats each tank full of 80 gallons!

Tank gets hot, dark, etc. All kinds of crap can grown in it! ha

I don't drink my water in my own house and I have reverse osmosis for my salt water tank. We have pretty good water where I live.

I just love spring water in the cases and the gallons and five gallons.

Really cool if you test your tank like I test my salt water aquarium and see what is in that puppy.

62 years of drinking out of the hose and still kicking. I clean the freshwater tank about once a year and in 40 years of camping I have had zero cases of waterborne diseases. I do drink bottled water on the golf course because most used recycled wastewater but at home and in the camper it is straight from the tap.

Yeah... We have running water in our back yard: it's called a "creek"!
As a kid: we were thrown outside each Summer morning, and told to get home before it got too dark. Every hose in Town kept us well-watered.
Nobody ever died!

I grew up as did all the kids in that era drinking out of garden hoses

Have you smelled the water coming out of new hoses lately?

Hose manufacturers assume that we no longer drink from them unless the are NSF approved

Water unfortunately in many places is not the same quality

If you're immune system is compromised or one of you is extremely sensitive then then you need to pay attention to what is in your water

I use my RO to fill the tank when the water hardness is extremely high or if iron and sulphur are present

Smell and avoiding scale in the Aquahot are the primary reasons

Peroxide takes care of the MB concerns if city water is unavailable

Nitrate levels are elevated in thousands of water sources as are hydrocarbons

Lead and chromium you have all heard of

Chlorine compounds are a common problem

Water isn't water anymore but remember no one is monitoring your bottled water like municipal is

Like anything dont just assume that the tap is going to contain safe drinking water, know what you are doing
