In Georgetown SC . 40 mins from Charleston and 2 bars on the mobile which they claim is fast. We have 2 4G VERIZON bars !!! T mobile 1.2 GPS no buffering watching very clear chiefs and Bengals game!

Just realized I can't do this. I need wifi at home when gone

Living in the criminal state of CA I need wifi for security cameras wifi house lights and a couple other things. So it sounded good but won't work for me

We have verizon hardly ever 5g around country and 4g hard to find full bars. T mobile home has solved our home and road us and unlimited and fast.

We will be on the road a lot especially las cruces NM & AZ so testing t mobile may help us drop verizon and get 55+ plans

Update Forkland campground AL. Verizon 4g 1 dam bar..winegard 144 mps. SLOW. T mobile 1.2 GPS!! Amazingly happy. I walked 100 yards from camper and still t mobile signal from wifi! See pictures

In the US, Verizon, US Cellular, and the old Sprint network (now owned by T-Mobile) use CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. Most of the rest of the world uses GSM. The global spread of GSM came about because in 1987, Europe mandated the technology by law, and because GSM comes from an industry consortium.

So why did so many US carriers go with CDMA? Timing. When Verizon's predecessors and Sprint switched from analog to digital in 1995 and 1996, CDMA was the newest, hottest, fastest technology. It offered more capacity, better call quality, and more potential than the GSM of the day. GSM caught up, but by then those carriers' paths were set.

It's possible to switch from CDMA to GSM. Bell and Telus in Canada have done it to get access to the wider variety of off-the-shelf GSM phones. But Verizon and T-Mobile are focused on 4G and 5G, not 3G. They'll retire the older networks rather than switch.

Nobody's GSM or CDMA anymore. Everybody is either LTE (4G') or 5G or will be shortly. If you don't have a modern phone with VOLTE you won't be able to make phone calls in a few months.
