Adding Window Awning

Has anyone taken the time to add a window awning to their rig? I am thinking about adding an awning over the large windows at the dinette. The glass is black and really adds a lot of heat when I am parked with that side to the sun. The length is about 60” and probably 36” tall.
1) What brand awning did you select? I am looking at Carefree.
2) Did you mount it yourself?
3) What should I watch out for?
4) Would you do it again?
5) Any other suggestions?
Thank you for the help.

We have added Carefree window awnings at the dient/galley window (one 98 inch covering both) the bedroom windows at the head of the bed (50 Inch) and the rear of the RV (38 inch). We used their full view black fabric. It allows one to see through it while blocking 95% of the sunlight. (Used it on our previous DP with great results)

Had them installed, for $300. I'm 74 with a recent knee replacement and did not want to do myself, though they appeared rather easy when being installed.

I don't and the RV is back in our storage space. Won't be pulling back out until Oct. Will snap some shots then.

They really do cut down on the heat, but allow some light in. Makes the RV seem far more bright and open than solid awnings.

I was able to take some pictures in Storage yesterday. We'll see if my Tech savvy is good enough to post

Here are a few more photos. Taken from inside on the Driver's window awning, showing how you can still see out, but most of the direct sun is blocked, which really lowers the temp inside.

window awnings

Do you think that the ones you installed would work over the driver and passenger front windows to allow them to be kept open in the rain? My only real complaint with our ACE 29 is the lack of air flow due to the fact that none of the windows can be fully opened, if at all, and I would really like to be able to open the ones in the front.

Thanks

You would need to get the solid, not see through to keep the rain out. Some rain will get through the see through, though it will be considerably reduced.
