I found when searching Amazon for a hud that there were a lot of units all the same. It appears that they are all manufactured in China by the same company and imported by a bunch of different US companies.

Thus all the hardware is essentially the same (it looked like there was about 3 different display configurations you could purchase).

putting a light image on your windshield from a small device about the size of a cell phone. Normally shows your fuel usage, speed, rpm, oil pressure and a few more. This device can ready just about any date that your main computer puts out and show you on your windshield. Check this site out for more on what it looks like and what it does... I purchased a Tekstik HUD on Amazon for 50.00 bucks.Interesting and cool little unit.5.5 inch display and shows all types of info but it is more of an annoyance projected on the axis windshield than it is worth.I will probably just use it in my Silverado.Just an unecessary toy!

I use one in my Jeep that projects only the speed. The speedometer is difficult to read.

The windshield in the motor home is so far front that the HUD might be difficult to read.

If you try one, let us know how you like it.

Hud

I couldn't get the hud to display clearly on the Axis windshield even using the film that it is supplied with.It was somewhat blurry and double vision looking at times.I returned it to Amazon.Maybe in the future when they perfect them I will try again, but at this time I would tell people not to waste their money on one unless you are obsessed with having tons of useless toys!

I tried different angles and distances from the windshield and none were clear. You also have to look at it pretty much straight on or it will be blurred to the point that it makes you feel as though you need new glasses!

The display on the one I sent back was bright enough for daylight. One thing to note is to try to get as long a cord from your obd to the unit as you can.The cord that came with the Techstik one was about a foot shorter than I would have liked. You wont be able to route the cord to the windshield underneath anything,it will just lay on top of your dash if its too short.my cord was about three ft long. Good luck!

Is this because it was too short or because you couldn't find a path from the bottom through to the access panel at the top?

Hud

The cord that came with it was too short I removed the access panel on top of the dash and the unit barely reached the edge of the little drop off on the axis dash.I then layed the cord over the dash so I could try different angles, but none were satisfactory to me.The stick on screen display also bothered me when the unit is not on.It is a somewhat mirrored reflective piece of plastic that must be used to get a clear display which turned out not to be very clear anyway.

it would probably work much better in a car where the windshield is much closer and has much more of an angle for projection

Thank YOU everyone for your feedback regarding the HUD .. this confirms what we were thinking .
We purchased an OBDII WiFi device this week..the software downloads to your android/apple device (we chose IPad II for larger display) With the complete app downloaded, it will deliver all information offered by the OBDII ..
We have not been on the road with it, .. will do so tomorrow ..
I am the co-pilot and gps/map reader .. so, I have a new toy to play with while we are on the road. The tablet can lay on the area above the radio .. noticing that area gets a little warm, I am going to create a little grid for air circulation to keep the tablet cool when in use.
That accompanied by our Garmin "Jack", we are good to go !

Which app are you using for that?

I've been using the FORScan app: forscan.org. It isn't pretty but it does have a bunch of Ford specific parameters.

Auto Doctor is what they recommended .. I noticed there was an abundance of apps for IPad .. but figured I should use what they considered compatible..I looked at all of the available info, before paying for the upgrade...I think it will keep Ron happy with info ! This one isn't pretty, either.
