TPMS with Valve Extension for Sender
I would like to install a Tymate TPMS with the screw on senders. But on the rear wheels (dually) the valve stems are slightly buried in the wheel opening. Will it work to add a 1-1/4" extender and then screw on the sender?
Also will that additional weight affect balance. If so I guess I should install the extender and sender and then rebalance.
See the Tymate here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ref_=pd_gw_unk
See the extender here: https://www.amazon.com/Slime-2045-Me...e%2C216&sr=1-9

Can you screw on the TPMS sender, and then add the extension?
(Or isn't it a pass-through sender?)

Humm. My tire and steel wheel combo weigh 104 lbs. Adding a couple ounces to the combo I guarantee would not noticeable. When balancing truck tires they add lbs. not oz. as done with cars.

But I'd be concerned with the centrifugal forces created by the weight of the sender spinning around on the end of the extension... It might damage that extension!

The sender looks to be too big to screw on, the wheel hole blocks it.

Yes that was part of my concern, in addition to balance.

Balance is not a problem and as long as your stems and extensions are metal youll be fine. My TireMinder owners manual has an extensive discussion on the matter. The system was designed to work.

Tire Minder here too. No problems on rear as mine had the stainless hose extenders. But on front I could not air up or check pressure w a hose or gauge. I put about 3 inch extenders 45 degree to get them outside the holes in the wheels. No problem now or adding the Tire Minder, it worked fine. Thx, Dennis.

Thanks guys. I have ordered the Tymate and extenders. Will advise how it works out.

OK Bob, here is the report and it is only Saturday:
I ordered 1-1/4" extenders which was plenty to let me install the Tymate sensor on my rear wheels. The fronts had plenty of room without an extender. See the pic. It worked very well: the sensor is reasonably light and since the inner and outer stems are 180 apart there should be no balance issue. The stem and extender is rigid enough to keep it from bending or bouncing around underway.
The whole installation took about a half hour and the display works great. It is solar powered so it sits up on the dash where it gets some sun during the day which should work fine.
I did not have to install the included repeater. My Axis is only 25' long and apparently this was short enough to work without the repeater.
I am very pleased with the Tymate.
David

As someone mentioned, make sure you have steel stems on the tires. Generally, it's not a question of balance with sensors, it's whether the stem and extension if any can handle the weight. For example, the TST flow through sensors I use are recommended for use only with steel stems.
I have extenders from the inner dually and there's a plastic plate in the outer tire rim opening to support the extension.
If you are referring to the holes in a simulator as preventing placement of the sensor, I took off my aluminum simulators front and rear and used a dremmel tool to grind the openings large enough to avoid any contact with the sensor.

Balancing concerns ...
Hi David, I too installed that same system and loved it.
I ended up replacing the stock stems with Dually Valves all steel stems because I wanted to limit the points of failure. https://www.shinyrv.com/product/dual...l-wheels-dl2c/
I didn't have any concerns about unbalanced tires, but I did put in balancing beads to never worry about balancing again.

X2 on dually valves. Not the cheapest upgrade but solves a couple of problems 100%. Also no issues or concerns with balance.
