Trik-l-start battery charger/maintainer

I tried to order a Trik-l-start battery charger/maintainer but the company will not ship to Canada and it is no longer offered on Amazon.

Any Canadians out there have any luck ordering one?

Thanks
Chris

I don't like many items in Harbor Freight but their high end trickle charger is a good unit and priced accordingly

Don’t know if they ship to Canada but we don’t have Harbor Freight here.

Thanks for your suggestion. Harbor Freight does not have outlets in Canada nor do they ship here. In any case, I checked them out and they do not stock what I am looking for.

LSL Products suggested I use a mail forwarding service but that would add 50% to the cost of the charger! Maybe when the border opens I will have it shipped to Oroville and I can pick it up there.

I hope you find a way to get one.... they work great!

I installed one when I had my '18 Outlaw 29H and it kept the chassis battery maintained when I was on shore power or through my solar. It was great not having to worry about my chassis battery any more.

I have a Magnitude now and it has a BIM160. It would take a little more wiring than the Tril-l-Start but that would be another option for you.

I use the Viking 4 amp from Harbor Freight as the smaller ones won't keep up with a computer equipped car/truck

They don't call them trickle chargers on HF's web site

Very good little charger and one of the few that actually will charge a very low battery

This is what the OP is talking about. It is a permanent installation for coaches that don't have a BIM so the converter / charger can charge the chassis battery.

That’s the one or the related Amp-l-start. They are available in the US but not in Canada and most US suppliers will not ship to Canada except through a 3rd party forwarding company (read $$$$).

My best bet seems to be to wait until the border opens again and have it shipped to the nearest border crossing at Oroville, WA.

The reason for my interest in this particular device is that you don’t need to be plugged in. Our RV is not when in storage. I have 2x200 watt solar panels that maintain the house batteries and can provide enough juice to also maintain the chassis battery as needed and determined by the Trik-l-start.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Chris

Get a CTEK charger from Amazon. I got the 4.3 model and found it works great on my house batteries, my Jeep and my Bolt when it is in long term storage. It will maintain your batteries forever

I’d recommend you keep at it until you find a Trik-L- Start. It’s a unique and useful product. I added an 80W solar panel and one of them to keep both my house and chassis batteries charged during storage. It’s foolproof and automatic. Good luck.

I got too impatient and just ordered the Trik-l-Start to be delivered to “Shipitto” in CA who will then forward it to me in Canada (for an extra charge of course).

Still, a good deal compared to alternatives available in Canada that seem to have a significant surcharge. For example, the Xantrex Echo can be bought in the US for $USD 125 yet is over $CDN 300! No way the current exchange rates justify that differential.

But eh, it’s an RV. $$$$$ don’t count. If they did, you would never own one. Right!

Looking forward to receiving it later this summer and not having to worry about my chassis battery discharging again.

Chris

It is a great device and when you have solar it will keep the chassis battery maintained as you said. Probably worth the extra $$$$ in the end.

When we were in Canada we noticed Canadian Tire Store carries things like battery maintainers. Give them a try.
