Hugh,

Check out these little solar powered units, motion sensitive type (night light on low then bright when motion detected). They are available on the web.

I just installed on of these on the top of the door. Has mixed reviews so we'll see. Seems to work fine so far.

How do you prevent them from turning on when driving at night?

Hi,
I replaced my original light with one of these

http://www.mcssl.com/store/jason.wea...art-light-1000

Work very well and uses original wiring.

Does it still get enough sun to work when canopy is out?

FWC,

So far it has.

Two weeks ago here in the Piedmont of NC we had several days of below freezing, cold, bad weather, rain, gray and gloppy...after the second day that has been the only time it did not hold a charge.

MetalMan, I was serious about the Duct Tape. I make a Duct Tape "bandaid" with a piece of Duct Tape about 4-5 inches long and the center portion covered by a second piece of Duct Tape so no sticky parts are on the lens or collector of the light. Only did it twice...but I am batting 1000 right now.

Can't you just use the key and turn it off?

(From the Amazon page about the light.)

Jamie...

Wow, now that's using your head for more than just a hat rack! I will check that out tonight!

Jamie, just checked and yep that is an off/on button...I thought it was just a reset switch.

I can use my Duct Tape for other fixes!

Just ordered one on Amazon.com. We have a canopy over the door and I wonder if it will cast a shadow? Can always mount it to the side of the door. Thanks for the information.

Metalman, mounted ours about a foot below the outside light on the left (facing towards the door). So far the canopy has not been a problem.

Metalman, sure. I was given two as Christmas Presents from my son. Now that I know there is an off and on button I am going to look for a good place for the second light.

How did you mount it? Did you screw into the side of the coach?

Doc,
Thanks for posting the photo. I can mount mine to the right of the door. Our outside light is on the slide out and when it is extended is more than a foot beyond the door.

The Amazon page says it is peel and stick. So wondering how long that would last. I would still want to attach by screws but at least a little bead of caulk on the edge.
