Is that your converter?

No, the converter is mounted under the distribution panel and has been disconnected for 4 months. The output of the ATC feeds this component with 6G wire. I will be at the MH tomorrow and will get a picture.

Upgrade 30 to 50 Amp service
It might be your latching disconnect.

It is a relay that connects/disconnects the coach battery from the coach. It is activated by the USE/STORE switch. Here is a link of a representative latching disconnect. https://www.rvtechlibrary.com/electr...disconnect.pdf

The battery disconnect - N/A since you said this mystery box is connected to your 120 VAC side.

Oh, I missed it is on the 120 side. Do you have a residential fridge? It might be some switching mechanism to switch the fridge whether you are on shore power of inverter.

This is in a 4” metal box wired AC between ATC and 120v power panel

Tomorrow I will be at the unit and get not only a picture but check other inputs or outputs for clues
A guess: possible a second ATC with inputs from main ATC and AC output of inverter. Maybe the output would be to the AC power panel. I will check that out and report back.

Only an educated “GUESS” on my part.
If it’s on the 120V side, it may be what automatically sheds electrical load since your motorhome was built with 2 air conditioners on a 30-Amp service. If you have both A/Cs running and then turn on microwave, for example, something has to turn off one of A/Cs. Just guessing though.
Thor wiring diagram should show what that box is or does.

My guess is it is another transfer switch. The main ATS switches between shore power and genset and when it supplies the main power for the coach the inverter output is disconnected. When shore power and genset power is disconnected the second transfer switch, the 4 inch metal box, goes into a state that connects the inverter as the main power source. Three 120VAC power sources would require two transfer switches.
I’m willing to bet the two inputs to the box are the ATS and inverter and the output goes to the power center.

Jimbo12, I tend to agree with you. I will let you know tomorrow. The interesting nay argument is that the unit was not sold with an inverter. I installed it. Maybe Thor was anticipating the owner would want an inverter but they were to cheap to install one themself.

This is not a ATS, but appears to be some kind of relay. As said earlier one input is output of Gen/shore power ATS and the other involves the Inverter AC voltage. Some how the AC power distribution panel is involved. I don’t see a part or model number listed.

That's a Power Control System to allow you to run your 2 A/Cs:
