Upgrade to smart TVs?

We have a 2019 Thore 34j and it has multiple axxera tvs and we would like to upgrade to smart tvs. All the tvs with the exception of the two in the bunks all seem to have a box attached to the back of the tvs that all the wires run to. My question is dose that box come and just bolt to the new smart tv or is that part of the tv?

My

You just have to transfer the mount.

I added Rokus to everything instead of replacing.

Same here...Roku's on all TVs, and they work great!

Roku can just be a stick you stick in a USB or hdmi port.
A smart TV has apps that fail fast and have little support.
None of my smart tv's will do anything smart anymore.

I haven't found a single thing wrong with the axxera tv's that a roku stick didn't cure.
We have a smart TV over the door of the 24.1 prior owner installed it. It doesn't do anything smart.

Since roku, chrome cast and Firestick, smart tv's are like buying a typewriter.

We've gotten a couple of Toshiba "Fire Edition" tv's for the house in the past year. 4K display, with "built in" Fire Stick technology for Amazon Prime as well as other apps. So far, very pleased with them.

Considering maybe replacing one or more of the coach TV's with something similar if current ones die; but not sure if they'd be available in the "right size", or how they'd stand up to travel. We also have a true Fire Stick that we plan to test out next trip.

While Rokus are great if you do want to upgrade the TV get Roku TVs:

You can always upgrade the Roku apps
You will have a real channel guide for your OTA TV no matter where you are at (if the Roku TV is connected to the Internet).

Vizio TVs look like they have a channel guide in their literature, but that is just for their streaming service, not OTA channels.

Agree^^^^^ TCL TV with Built in ROKU^^^^^^^love using ONE small remote that also lets you plug ear buds into IF OTHERS ARE SLEEPING.

One very cool things most phones and many TV's will do is connect wireless QUICKLY! Every time I go into Best BUY etc. I walk up to the phone geeks and say....Show me 3 things this phone will do that I don't know about.
Let them show you how your phone connects to the tv's in their showroom before buying. HULU LIVE multiple screens 4 me ..

I have been told that you have to have wifi for the smart tv to pick up your phone.
I just got a HDMI adapter to attach to my phone.
If you have things downloaded to your phone it will play.

No wifi

No wifi no connection to anything. On the other hand the Bluray player have a screen mirror capability on it and that will work without wifi 😁 or you can set a network up real quick just through a router so everything can connect just no internet on the router but can still stream from your phone or whatever you want to use. All the roku people here why not plug into the seriar tv router in the cabinet above the couch and only need 1 unit..of course you will onle be able to use on 1 tv at a time but who really needs 5-6 different shows going at once?...

Roku help please

Just hopped on to this dialog and see the consensus for Roku "sticks". Would someone please be specific about the Roku so I can buy one. Thanks.

The Roku Stick does not provide the convenience of the OTA TV Guide so it's less functional than a ROKU TV.

Our's came with a brand known as Continus or similar to that and, for the over the air channel scanning alone I couldn't get rid of those TVs fast enough.
It was nothing to wait an hour and a half just to run a channel scan on those things.

This probably has more to do with what streaming service you choose than TV but it might help someone else out along the way...

I usually just pull the Roku out of our house and plug it into the MH when we leave which usually works fine. I recently switched to Hulu+ Live streaming service which is bound to a "home" location meaning when it detects your IP address is somewhere other than where it was registered it won't allow playback on devices you plug into a TV.
You can change your Home 4 times a year but that could go quickly in a MH.

It will allow playback on a phone anywhere though so, for that reason we keep a Chromecast device handy.
This is only for the Hulu+ Live streaming version, your regular Hulu should work fine.

enjoy it

I bought a Jensen smart TV to replace over the door and use the fire stick, the big difference is this TV is 12 volt DC and it is built just for use in an RV, very low amp draw and I can watch all night with out shore power or running generator

We also have a ROKU stick on the bedroom tv in the RV. . I love watching Netflix, HBOGO, etc. We have ROKUs in several rooms of our house. Here is a link. We purchased ours at Best Buy.

Thanks for the link!
Since I am such a technological dinosaur: this at least gives me someplace to start gathering information...

My 2016 Thor Citation has Seiki televisions with USB inputs...and it looks like those USB ports will only work for audio files. Because of course I would want to use my TV as a stereo...?! Be sure that your television will accept video input through your USB port.

I will be looking for replacement TVs as we move along...

Our 2019 30FE has 4 tvs. We will add a 5th soon. We have fire sticks on all of them. Between the firesticks and TOGO our tv set up is just like home.

No such thing as "video input through USB port". You may have meant make sure the TV is capable of playing video files located on a USB thumb drive.

We have a 2015 ACE 29.3 with the Seiki TVs. We have a Roku on one and a fire stick on one, both work well - if you have wi-fi. If you get the Roku, get the one with the volume control and you'll only need the one remote ( it'll turn TV off/on as well).
