Using Levelers To Work On Suspension

Is this ok or a bad idea? I have a level, concrete space on which to work; hoping to install Sumo Springs, Safe T Plus, and rear sway bar this weekend. My thoughts are, "Why jack it up when I can put the levelers in manual mode and let the coach do the work." I'm not the best mechanic by any means, but I'm pretty sure I can do these mods. What say y'all? Use the levelers or no? Thanks!

Just like any jack you must place jack stands as a backup. If you plan to be under it.

I agree...
It might be okay to get the rig in the air; just don't use them to hold it up there for you!
BIG jack-stands are a must!

Good luck with your project; take lots of pictures for us!

Ron used jack stands when he installed the Sumo's front and rear.
Safety is a must !

Also keep in mind, some of the equipment you are installing needs to be at "ride" height when installed.

I am another one that believes it is okay to use the leveling system to jack up your RV. When I had my 2014 fiver I used it to raise one side at a time in order to grease my wheel bearings. With my Challenger the mechanic at the Safe T Plus factory had me use the front levelers to raise the coach so they could do the install.

I would not only put the jack stands under it but I would lock the coach so no one could even get close to the inside controls while it was in the air.

There's no doubt that the levelers can lift the rigs: they're designed to do just that...

...Within reason!

NEVER plan on having them actually hold the rig in the air; you'd be betting your life on the outcome.

I've used the jacks to lift the rig for several reasons - including getting under it to do oil changes/lube...

Probably most unique was when I needed to get it out of the storage yard in Michigan in middle of winter... the rear tires were spinning on ice where they had settled in its parking spot... The storage lot manager had no idea how I was going to get it out...
I just raised up one side with jacks - placed boards under the tires... lowered it... and repeated on the other side - then drove it right out... to their surprise...

If I am getting under the rig in that state - there is some form of jack stands... ramps under tires... etc keeping it up if all else fails...
