Vegas 24.1 EMS again....

I have read so many posts at this point that I need clarity for some specific questions, thank you for your patience.

1 - Bought the Surge Guard EMS 30AMP, would like to install in the basement, but where? pictures available of your install? Suggestions? Link to another thread?
2 - Can you install in basement and still be after the transfer switch?
3- Bought the Surge Guard Wireless Display, the wrong one so will order 40300. Question: Can I install the EMS now and later add the display when it arrives? Where did you install your remote display?

Thanks again - Deb, one shake down cruise under our belt.

My Progressive Industries EMS 30amp install is on page 73 of Vegas/Axis Mods.

I had to add a couple of 1" x 2" strips on the wall between the studs to secure the EMS.

I left the wired remote on top of the EMS with double stick tape because 99% of the time I don't need to see the info.
So if needed, I can look under the hinged cover.

And the 13' cord wasn't long enough to get it to the front entry steps where all my gauges are located.
I suppose that I could fish-line and mount on the passenger side wall in the master next to or above the thermostat.

So for you, I would mount the wireless display on the front wall entry area.

Thanks Bob for your pointer to your post, I see you went under the passenger bed. I would like to get the EMS under the coach in a basement area if possible.

Under as in the rear storage compartment?
Or, outside under the coach?

Either way, you’ll need to have a junction box because you’ll need to re-wire/extend wiring from the ATS

The beauty of doing it my way is that you can easily “insert” the EMS between the ATS and the Converter without adding any new wiring. You just cut the orange wire that runs from ATS to Converter, and insert EMS.

Simple DIY install once you create a mounting base.

Finally, Progressive Industries has a lifetime warranty.
So if it fails, I can easily access & remove the computer board for quick repair.

Substitute Power Distribution Panel for "Converter" above to be correct. The converter is just one load off the Power Distribution Panel.

Thanks Bob you answered my other question based on where you mounted, ie the before/after transfer switch location.

My installed 30 amp Surge Guard protector inline between the transfer switch and the main panel. Just cut the wire and hook it up. Had to mount a piece of plywood for mounting it. Easy install. Be aware that it takes about 2+ minutes for the protector to engage after you plug the camper into shore power. Two green lights will then come on.Click image for larger version
