If I built that step well cover it would buy me a LOT of shut-up.
I'm overengineering it and should probably just do as you did and get it done.

The step cover is an easy build and was absolutely necessary for us with a 1 year old crawling around the motorhome. Ours is just a piece of 3/4" plywood cut to overlap edges with two 1x2 strips screwed in from underneath so it won't slide off the opening.
I think I'll go back and carpet it like this one. I tried to stain mine but can't get close to matching the vinyl flooring so it looks out of place.

I just measured the space needed, made it a tight fit, used 3/4" plywood, stapled cheap carpet to it added a loop as a handle. It does not slide. Took 10 minutes tops.

Now I an thinking about installing Safe T Plus myself riding over a couple of the Leveling Lego blocks to lift the front. Does this seem feasible & safe ???????????

LAEN, we have the same coach. Do you know what Reflectix is? You can get it on Amazon. Get a roll of it and put in your cabinets, on the outside wall, when you measure the cabinets, make the measurements a quarter of an inch bigger all the way around that way you won't have to put anything on it to make it stay in place. We got a 2' x 4' roll. We are goin to have to get another roll because the one we got isn't goin to be enough. We are doin every cabinet in the coach.
