Water softener install

I am going to purchase a portable water softener for our 2016 ACE before heading southwest. I know can set it up outside the RV but wondered if it might be better to install it somhow. Has anyone plumbed a water softener unit into their Thor ACE? If so, can you provide some details?

Thanks,
Dennis and Carol

I had a Culligan system installed in my Mobile Suite 5W. They have a small system that works really well. No sure how well the electronic system works.

Water Softener question

I just purchased a used On the Go Water Softener, uses 4 months looks to be in good condition. My questions is what do I need to do to begin using its. Should I sanitize it? Do I need to flush it out? Dump out the resin and replace it? Any advise. https://www.amazon.com/Go-OTG3NTP1DS...ci_mcx_mr_hp_d

Thanks for your help.

If you are unsure what type of water was used (city or well), best to sanitize it just like a RV water tank. You need to regenerate it with salt as you don't know its charge state. The regen will also include a flush to get the salt out of the resin container. The current resin should last for many years. You might also purchases some resin cleaner and use it about once a year or four to five regens.

The salt used for regeneration during the brine draw is a decent sanitizer. Remember this is Cation resin so has a positive charge. I would just regenerate it twice and put it in service. The resin should be good unless it froze or it is very old.

I would call On the Go and ask what you should do. They are very helpful.

These unfortunately don't remove or exchange anything

A slight benefit in reduced calcium carbonate is all you can expect

If you have nasty water then Ion Exchange or RO are the primary fixes
