Creative solution anyone?

The sewer hookup on my 29FE is located behind a fold up door. This fold up door is not supported by pneumatic it other type of support. It is located under the slide so I cannot fold it all the way up. It is difficult to hold the door up and work sewer slide handles. Currently just use a piece of 2x4 to hold it up while under there. Looking for a more elegant solution.

I bought some small clips made for the purpose. I put them on the tank dump door and the generator cover. Amazon has them. "RV Door Catch".

Could you perhaps buy a lift-gate strut in an auto parts store, and adapt it for your setup?

The door catch does not look feasible the slide is directly above the door did you mount it on the side. If you think of any information on the pneumatic let me know. It looks like a very specialized apparatus.

Do you have a spot up on the bottom of the slide where you could attach a small D-ring?

You could raise the door, and run a lanyard around the door latch; securing it to the ring...

JamJanTan, They do work and are mounted on the slide. The slide is in when you are dumping or accessing the generator, right. So not a problem. The small catches work and my Montana 5th wheel had the everywhere there was a door.

That is promising! Perhaps not as elegant as I am looking for but definitely a keeper. Thanks

The slide is not always up. Often in a sewer site for a couple of weeks and have to dump then. The D-ring would work when slide is out no help when not out and your solution would work when slide is in. Ergo not a perfect solution yet. Thanks for your input.

Interesting thought and appreciated but don’t see how it works where I need it. Ideal in my mind would be one of those small v hinges that lock into place but the door is recessed into the coach and there is this odd lip on the inside that is in the way. Can’t see why Thor does not have a solution. I know I can’t be only one with this predicament. Thanks

This is probably NOT what you'd want to do...

But what if you mounted a small (discreet) D-ring to the outside bottom edge of your slide? That way: you could tie-off to it regardless of the positioning of the slide itself?

I wouldn't even look at the bottom of the slide, much less attach anything to it. If you ever had an issue with the slides it will be the first thing they will blame it on. Your 2X4 post is working...leave well enough alone. It's not like you're gonna spend that much time there.

While I'm certainly not familiar with the construction of your rig: I did take a quick peek at mine own during lunchtime...
There definitely was enough trimwork around the slide, where a small D-ring could be hung. After all: the weight of the door is pretty small...
And no holes would have to be drilled in anything that is load-bearing. For that matter: you could even get a plastic one, and epoxy it in place.

It's just a thought...

Gritz May be right but wiggle wrong and you have a headache or mashed hand.

Now that I'm seeing a picture my suggestion would be velcro: put some small strips of velcro on the bottom outside of the slide (like on the trim) and on the back of that door. Then use a velcro strap between them to hold the door open.

Good idea, not sure I’m sold, sorry I’m hard to please, but I appreciate the input. I’m really looking for same thing invisible when the door is closed. Still I am appreciative of all the ideas.

How about a "prop rod", that is attached to the bottom edge of the door, and can be rotate up to be affixed to that inside bottom door lip for storage?
When you need it: just swing it down and around to catch something solid in the door frame.

The prop rod sounds like the thing but not sure how to design one or where to buy such a critter that is the best correct length fits around lip at the edge and everything else.
