WiFi Booster

Unfortunately, my wife has to work while on vacation. This means that she needs good internet connection. I have looked at Weboost and TechnoRV.

Which one is the best? Should I go another route? Is their a link elsewhere on this site or others that I should review?

The best deal out there right now appears to be from AT&T... the ZTE Mobley - plugs into OBD2 port (or can adapt to external power from 110, 12v, 5v USB).
Plan (make sure you get the right one) is AT&T Connected Car - for $20/month and unlimited data...

Just activated mine today - we'll see how it works...
Adds to my arsenal of ways to stay connected as I often work on road too...

Currently:

• Picostation to receive/distribute available wifi signal through router to internal RV network... IF I happen to be someplace with decent WIFI...
• Comcast modem for long stays at locations serviced by Comcast connected to same router (hope not to use this one again - but was primary for multiple 3+ month winter stays...)
• AT&T Mobley as described above (have to tie this into my router still - but can direct connect up to 5 devices)
• Verizon phone hotspot as backup... but avoided due to cost. Used only if nothing else works and I have to get online.

I've been researching the Mobley. I know by default it is powered by the OBD port. I've been trying to determine if it's doing something to sense the car is running and only provide the hotspot when the car is running (obviously, that wouldn't be good for RV).

Did this plug into your OBD2 port? Someone told me that it would not work.

There is a setting to tell it how long to stay on without the car... In latest firmware - you can set that to 'always on'...
There are many people selling adapter cables to use outside the car which seem to only be providing power... I ordered a female OBD2 connector - and will be trying to wire up my own.

As soon as they activated it, I walked outside and plugged it in... first green LEd came right on (power) and in about 30 seconds the second green light came on (wifi available).
Connected with the info from the sticker to test it... so far looking good. Obviously tied to AT&T cellular availability - so I'll see how it does traveling.
The challenge is finding them 'in stock' on the AT&T website - been sporatic recently...

I almost went with the ATT mobley but since I have att unlimited all of my devises, phones and IPad are now a hot spot wifi unlimited. Look into AT&T unlimited.

Certainly if you already have an unlimited plan with any carrier that allows hotspot usage on your devices under that plan - you don't need the Mobley...

DW's cell is with straight talk - they don't allow hotspot on phone - I'd have to add another dedicated hotspot device and pay $45/month.
My cell is work provided - and while it allows hotspot, streaming movies and such would not be looked at kindly...

So the Mobley filled a gap nicely... Far less than anything else I could change to for what we need.
