Wiper control hell

Anyone have trouble with this control? I'm afraid to turn the wipers on because half the time I can't get them to shut off. Why don't they use the controls on the steering wheel stalk?

Long story.
Stalk just won't work.

So many people might not know how to use that switch.
Push center to turn on, push to turn off.
The up and down is a secondary on/off and requires you to go through a of the speeds.
Just push the center, and push the center.

If this doesn't make it all easier, pull the switch and trim the interfering hot glue.

Must be a VERY compelling reason why the Vegas/Axis Ford chassis don't have a stalk mounted control like used on the cutaway chassis.

I tried the push the switch. It doesn't work. It will turn the wipers on but not off.

I see a panel control with:
FASTER with an "up arrow" (label)
ON/OFF (looks like a push button)
WINDSHIELD ICON (can't tell if push button??)
WASH (push button)

So to turn on/off I assume you push the ON/OFF push button?
To wash push the WASH button?

Is the WINDSHIELD ICON a button? How do you control the speed?

Is there an intermittent speed control?
