Wire Gauge for Bus Bar

I have a small 25 ft Four Winds Class C. I was trying to do some maintenance on my one flooded battery and it has four wires connected to the positive terminal. See attached image "before.jpg"

For the ease of battery maintenance in the future, I bought a bus bar and move all the wire terminal over. Since I have two 2 AWG wire connected to the terminal, I am not sure if a size 2 AWG is sufficient for the battery terminal to the bus bar. I have put a 4/0 gauge for the battery terminal. See "after.jpg".

My question

1. Is 4/0 AWG an overkill?
2. Is it sufficient to simply use Size 2 AWG for the battery terminal? Any possibility of overheat with a Size 2? What is the common practice?

Thanks in advance.

It's fine.
It's more than fine.
There is no such thing as wire overkill except in micro circuits at miliamps.

There's a lot of math that isn't needed for your project.

Personally I'd put a cover on that busbar somehow.

Nice Job, before you cover the bus bar, add a little terminal spray protectant. Being so close to the ground surface, this might protect from water spray. I updated the same door step with an additional battery and 400W inverter when i owned the Class C, Freedom Elite.

I used standard battery cable sold at Walmart battery section of store.

Electrical wiring is one of the best tasks for RV electrical additions. Also, add multiple tie wraps to hold all those wire bundles...

About protective coatings:

I just now started using this. It's very cosmoline like but easier to work with.
I have no review other than I reviewed reviews and the reviews said this was the stuff.

It SEEMS to be the same stuff as the slide spray I review on the last page of my signature thread.

I've always in the past used plastidip(same as liquid tape) or I used hotglue, or my absolute favorite is tulip puff paint available in walmart craft section(it's like plastidip in a squeeze bottle).

txc2936,

That's a great idea on having an inverter right next to the battery.

Thanks for the warning on the bus bar sitting on top of the "ground". I did apply the battery grease and a partial cover on the bus bar. I think in order to be fool proof, I'd have to put a plastic tray in before mounting the bar.

I have not heard for puff paint and did Google a bit on it. Do you mean putting those paint on the terminals and using a heat gun to "puff them up"?

I'm not sure it's even valled puff paint anymore.
It's tulip paint for sure.
It resides in the craft department of Wal-Mart target, Johannes, Michael's, hobby lobby.

Here's what it looks like after punching a few holes in the plastic battery tray and put in between the bus bar and the ground. Thanks for your feedback.
