Anyone replace their TOAD with e bikes?

OK folks my wife and I are conducting an experiment by not bringing a separate vehicle on our trip to Denver, Crested Butte and Del Norte Colorado this trip...
We have been doing our research and feel that for our family of 4 can potential use a e bike instead of pulling a vehicle...If this works I would think of getting a couple more e bikes.

We have recently purchased a large cargo e bike to use in place of our Denali as every place we are staying at will be within 5 miles of activities and or a town. Also had to buy a separate e bike carrier to carry the e bikes as my bilx tops out at 77lbs and the rack can hold 80 lbs) Love to hear if anyone else has done the same thing?

Currently have 2022 Magnitude XG32

Wow, that is a lot of bikes and I think that is a Radbike and one of their heaviest.

When I sold our TT and bought a Thor Axis I thought through the problem and decided to wing it as we don't often leave our campsite after we get there. I did buy a Lectric bike to use for errands and such after we get settled. It is just for me as my wife isn't interested in biking, but it has been useful to pick up forgotten items at a nearby grocery store or even takeout dinner once.

The Lectric bike folds up and it JUST fits in the aft storage compartment on my Axis 24.1 so no mounting hassles, replaced with wiggling and cursing to get it inside.

Too many variables for us.
I've had an ebike since the beginning of the craze and like the above poster, it'd be fine for a little errand.
But
Add in
weather(hot cold rain wet streets abhorant wind)
The invariable of one bike not being charged so No One goes Anywhere

I have to suggest renting all those bikes at least three times before deciding.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of a gaggle of ebikes in an unknown location.

But to answer your question:
No, we haven't been able to make sense enough of it all to do this.
Considered, heartily, did not follow through.

And
David above has inspired me to look into the foldable bike for my 24.1
Since you know which exact model fits, can you post a link please?

With my e-bikes with the same rack. I use a bar on each bike from neck to seat post.

thanks for the feedback and comments....

Theft has been a major topic for me so we will see if the multiple kryptonite locks and chains and the waterproof bike cover I bought will work - if someone wants to steal something they will find a way but most thieves are opportunists and the more difficult it is to steal it the less likely they are to to it (IMO)....

The experimental e bike is a 2022 Blix Packa genie that has dual batteries and a 750 watt motor. So far I can fit both of my little ones in the back and it's been ok to pedal with them in the bike even without any pedal assist. fingers crossed!

The kids as passengers on the bike could very well break some laws.
I'm unaware of any but it sounds administratable to me.
So
Different towns, different laws, no Denali....

Weather, distance and purpose. We're in the experimental phase. This trip brought the e-bike and pulled the toad. We just got back from a 5 mile hike with the dogs. The trail head was a few miles from camp, so we used the toad.

Tomorrow looking at a 20 mile excursion to get to a hike/waterfall. Again the toad.

Used the e-bike Sunday to get a bundle of firewood. Time will tell of the usefulness for our purposes.

It is this one: https://lectricebikes.com/products/x...waAiCUEALw_wcB

I think that they have widened the handlebars since I bought mine, but that shouldn't make a difference as the handlebars are removed for folding.

They also make a lighter version, about 45 vs 60 lbs for this one, which probably has less battery capacity, therefore less range.

Nope: we put my wife's ebike and my road bike on our Thule rack on the back of our Jeep. Us both as want. We do have dogs and like to take them on hikes in the mountains and runs on the beach. Maybe a week end at a location close to town.

We full time travel with just our MH and 2 e-bikes. We don't know what it's like to travel with a toad, for our type of travel it would be a more hassle then value.

We regularly use the e-bbikes to see the sights (last week at Zion for example) that are inaccessible to cars and or RV's or for a quick trip to the local markets and or pub.

Our backup is the MH as its a slide-less model without levelers. I can unhook in seconds, but since we mostly dry camp (because we never have reservations) we're just start the MH and go.

So for us e-bikes work the magic we need.

I couldn't imagine going back to camping without our dinghy. No more golfing, day trips around the lake, having to unhook the coach from power and water because I forgot something. An e-bike to hit the pool or get a bag of ice, maybe but I'm not giving up my toad. Been there, done that and ain't going back.

What ever works for you! That's What great about RVing, you get to make your decisions! We love our ebikes, have travel cart I tow around and use from fishing to going to the grocery store.

We bought and installed Ebike rack. was a pain getting them on and off the racks, covering them, etc. They Weight a lot!

Bought a toad so I can put the ebikes in it and the yaks on the top. Been happy with it.

After our 2020 rig blew the engine on first major trip, we don't go any where without a ride!

Do what works for you. FWIW, we carried a pair of mopeds for several years before we began towing a car. We still take the mopeds instead of the car on some trips but fewer all the time. The car is just so much more versatile and practical. And I’d think (personal opinion) that an ebike would be even less practical than the mopeds.

I hope it works out for you. I don’t think we would ever not use our Jeep. Being in Washington you are either camping where it could be monsoon rainy out or 100 degrees in the summer.

We haven’t gotten around to a toad yet, but we do have an ebike. It is far more likely we will end up with two e bikes than a toad at this point. (The first one is for the one who has arthritis and can’t ride a bike without this assist.) We can always rent a car when the e bikes won’t work.

The premise of your question is incorrect. Ebikes do not equal Toads so one cannot replace the other.

We have 2 Ebikes and 2 Toads (only use one Toad at a time)

Sometimes we take the bikes.
Sometimes we take one of the Toads.
Sometimes we take both.
Sometime we take none.

It all depends on the trip and the destinations.

If we're going to a camping destination the Ebikes work great for trails and short errands.
If we're going to a sight-seeing destination we take a Toad to get from base camp to the sights.
If the trip includes both types of stops we take both.
If we're just mooch-docking at a relatives we take neither.

It's just a matter of using the right tool for the right occasion.
