Camping with 25F degree nights

When using an Axis/Vegas 24.1 in temps 25 F and up will keeping the interior temp at 60 degrees F keep the water lines from freezing?

During Thanksgiving will will get down to 25 at night and plan to drain the external city water hose so it won't freeze but wondering about the hoses inside our motorhome. Most concerned with the city water supply line with it being directly connect to exterior wall.

We are winterized and can keep it that way. Not as easy but we can do it.

25 degrees for a few hours is not an issue. It's not just about low temp, but also daytime temps and how long (and far) you will be below freezing; as well as the RV internal temperature.

Yes, the long freeze period are difficult.

Since Days are forecast to be well above freezing we are concerned with just a several period for a couple nights getting down to a forecast 25F.

The Axis 24.1 has it's water tank and all of the water lines inside except maybe the external shower hoses which won't be a problem if they freeze anyway.

At a low of 25 I wouldn't worry about the grey and black tanks either, but if you have the tank heating pads (and the battery power to run them) it might be a good idea to turn them on, at least for overnight.

We do have tank heaters!! I need to track the route of the city water line to see that it comes inside and won't pose too much exposure.
Thank you

The city water line may be your biggest problem. I've had my outside hose freeze in those kinds of temps. It did not freeze the whole hose. But it was enough to stop me from using it. My advice, if it's that cold, use the fresh water tank and the pump.

I lived in my last coach for a complete winter in Central Texas. I kept the water tank full and when the weather guesser predicted lows in the 20s, I would disconnect the city water and run off the tank. Never had a problem. Keeping the inside of the coach between 65 and 70 provided enough radiant heating to keep the lines free of ice.

The THOR owner's manual that came with my ACE say that as long as you keep the coach living aira temperature above 40 degrees there should be no freeze problems. It also suggests opening the cabinet doors on the verry coldest nights.

Also, open under cabinet doors at night a little bit under sinks and in kitchen. The inside heat will radiate through the water lines into the inner walls. As long as the temps rise above freezing for a few hours each day all will be fine...unless you experience multiple nights well below freezing and barely rising above freezing during days.

Thank you all for the suggestions and encouragement. Sound like we shall be okay! We should be in 40's during the day time and weather guessers say mid 20's for lowest night. We will keep an eye to the weather station.
Again, appreciate the hand holding.

I have been in single digit overnight temps in our 24.1. No real issues or difficulty. High 20's into mid 30's daytime. If going below 25 overnight will usually fire engine for 20 minutes late to slow cold saturation of underside.

Any potential for freezing I leave tank heaters on.

Only casualties we had were tree frogs under RV when thawed out.

Smoked tree frogs are great on Ritz Crackers with a tad of sliced cheese. Like oysters...don't bite into them...eat them whole.

A small ceramic space heater can keep it warm and save a lot of LP.

But buy a good one. We had a cheap Chinese ceramic cube and it burst into flames one morning. We happened to be right there so avoided disaster. Buy a good one!

Yep, no problem. We've camped in ours several times with those sorts of low temps. I would not even connect the water hose unless it's justs to fill the tank. Use the tank and pump.

Matthew beat me to the master tip. Get yourself a small space heater or two....or three. Just be mindful of your breakers and circuits. In my 31 ft when it's real cold I keep one going in the kitchen, and another very small one in the bathroom...

You're plugging in for electricity, right?

The furnace will burn a lot of LP more worse it's blower will drain the house battery in nothing flat. I use the furnace but a bit sparingly....only to warm the place now and then, turn it off when sleeping, turn it on in the morning to warm the place for the wife and kids. The little heaters keep it decent

Most of the pipes are inside so it shouldn't be an issue....

That did it for me, I am out on this thread. Any food that you can't bite cannot be good

If it is really cold I would also pull in the slides if possible, less inside volume to heat. Jim.

15 degrees overnight last trip

Make sure slides are fully extended and sealed

We camp using water tank instead of heated hose

Run heat pumps until temperatures drop to around 30

Switch to the Aquahot registers and fireplace until or if temperatures rise

If not on metered power, then a couple of ceramic heaters with thermostats to maintain target temps

Fall and early spring are our favorite travel times so many years and quite a few storms behind us

Sounds like we will be OK. If we have any damage we can start a Go Fund Me!
Thank you for the tips and all.

You forgot a light sprinkle of tabasco sauce . . . .
I/We always chew our oysters for better flavor!
