The Heat

I'm going to be spending the summer in Goodyear, Az (part of the Phoenix metro area) while receiving treatment. Any advice, hints, tips, tricks to cope with the heat?

A/C and plenty of ice water. That's how I coped when in AZ several summers ago! Best wishes on your treatment.

Hydration, and air-conditioning: I agree!
But if you're drinking ice water: keep an eye on how you're going to replace lost electrolytes...

Get some humidity in there. AC makes things drier and some humidity will be comfortable

1) Look for shade to park under
2) Use your awning to provide shade on your passenger side
3) Use Reflectix to insulate your windows
4) Block off sections of your motorhome to shrink the area cooled by your A/C system. If possible, block off the front cab area completely using blankets since a tremendous amount of heat will come in through all the windows.
5) If you can feel a lot of heat coming down through the ceiling vents it might be better to block those off with vent pillows.
6) Plan for meals that do not use appliances: The microwave will compete with the A/C, and the stove top will just add extra heat into the space. Think "Sandwiches and Salads,

If your coach “needs” two air conditioners and doesn’t have the second one you may be able to purchase a portable model for the bedroom. They vent out the window and you can plug it into the 20A outlet on your campground pedestal. Only about $250. Good luck with your treatments.

All this, particularly the Reflectix on the windows including the windshield. My bedroom windows, three of them, pretty much stay covered year round. Bring in the slides to reduce air space volume plus the seals might be better closed then open to prevent drafts.

Thanks for the help. We're parked on a north-south axis. Front of the rig faces north. The main windows face east so we don't get the sun thru them in the afternoon. The staff here at Destiny RV Park made a point to put us in a spot for that reason. Nice people!!!!!
