Kev,

You may be 100% correct but as with so many things in today's world, the details get lost in the mass mind and all members of the general class suffer.

Scooter Hitch the new ride

So, we have been trying to not dip too deeply into our bank account, and the toad thing was too pricey, and the dolly thing had issues too. So, we opted for a Scooter mounted hitch, SMC 600r and a Kymco Like 200i.
Got the scooter on Sat. and ordered the hitch from Amazon. Hopefully, with it's higher weight limit, (600 lbs) and larger rail size it will work well. The MX 600x has a weight rating of 500 lbs, but was not as sturdy looking and the price was not that much cheaper.
I'll get it this week and let you know how it all goes.

I hope that it fulfills all of your expectations: and many more!

But we WILL need to see some pictures of it!

That's what I want to do but my wife says she'll not be caught dead riding on the back of a scooter. She's a swimsuit model but I'm 235. she said we would look like a circus act. I guess I'll get one of those T-Shirts that say on the back..."If you can read this...the bitch fell off"!!

I was looking at electric bicycles but I think now we will just buy a pair of mopeds to carry on a cargo carrier. They are cheaper and you don’t have to pedal. I like that they don’t need licensing or insurance. Sort of humbling to mosey down the shoulder at 25 mph but it beats walking!

The only thing that doesn't beat walking: being carried in the back of a Hearse!

We looked at the Honda PCX150 150 as our top choice too, but couldn’t find a used one and didn’t want to spend that much for a new scooter that wouldn’t get ridden much. Next choice was the Kymco 150. Have to try that out. How’s the noise in a campground with a gas scooter? Wouldn’t use it around the campground; just take it when we want to go out. Don’t want to be That annoying noisy neighbor.

Just got back from a 15,000 mile 4 month trip from AZ to AK, Maine, down the east coast, and back to AZ. Brought along my Honda scooter for local travels when parked. It works great except for rainy weather, which wasn't a huge problem. One place 2 wheel transportation EXCELS is getting around and parking in large metro cities. That wasn't an issue in AK of course, but weeks spent around Boston, Philly, Providence, and DC (especially) were MUCH better with 2 wheel transportation. Also did a 1000 mile (mostly dirt) trip from the bottom of VA to the top of PA on the 'scooter' towards end of the trip. I typically left morning or mid-day on the bike to explore and returned between 9-11pm, was never a problem at campgrounds. Like someone said, it's not an <obnoxious> Harley .

So now (after just returning) I'm looking for a used Suzuki VanVan 200 to keep in the RV all the time. It's a fairly light (under 300lbs), fat tire, go anywhere, huge comfy low seat, 2-up, FI dual-sport bike capable of 70-75mph. The perfect RV bike

For 10,000 miles they were on the bike rack not covered I would never do that again my new system will take all 5 bikes they will be secured and covered it's too much an investment I feel to leave your bikes on that back hitch uncovered all those miles my own opinion. Like I said we have a 24.1 others might have tons of storage room everybody's different, step back look at your situation. Then buy what's best for your situation. I
Agree with Kev. Ford,
Chevy all good. After researching electric bikes my opinion is there are a few very very good quality bikes and tons of junk out there take your time. Cost doesn't always equal quality in the electric bike Arena.
RevJeffrey,

Would 2 of these folded up fit in the 24.1 compartment. I suppose I could look up the dimensions but have you any real world experience? The 2018 has the compartment in the rear as well.
Thanks

Rev. Jeffrey Mods & Travels 2017 Axis 24.1

I have not tried. Before I built this rack, I was going to add an additional "back cargo door" like the new Axis models for easier access. I would say maybe 1 would fit in the Pass. rear compartment. The same company SONDORS makes a smaller but still adult "sport" model that looks like an easier inside fit. My Axis is in storage right now. I will be heading to the Purdue - Ohio St. football game on the 20th. I will be prepping unit and will try to load them inside and test fit for you. Looking @ my photo you can see the scale of the Bike size. Fold able yes. But this is a full size bike.

We have a 50cc trike (moped)that we use. It's been souped up to 87cc and will go 60mph with 2 crazy old people on board. We have a trike carrier that mounts on the rear hitch but after our last trip i thought it was too heavy for our class c ( it would work with a class A though)so we're looking at 4X6 open trailer with a drop down ramp. Sorry no pic, the wife has them on her camera and heavens know where she is.

I have attached similar photos on previous conversations regarding motorcycle racks on the rear of our Axis.
Here are a couple showing the rack which Ron has used for about 15 yrs on our B+ Starflyte, B+ Dorado and now, the 24.1 Axis. Last week, we returned from a 2000+ mile trip through KS, Colorado and NM. The rack, which Ron designed and had built a bit before racks came into their own, has been strong and solid. The 650 Suzuki Dual Sport weighs about 350 lbs. We also have a 6x10 enclosed trailer, in which we haul the dresser and the dual sport at times

Pads are about 110 pounds each so DW and I can lift them on to a standard cargo carrier. They only go about 30 mph but they’re street legal and get us around. Fun too, unless it’s raining. Easier than dragging a car.
