Always several fires during the winter, never a good outcome

Fire Safety First. Good topic.

I added two additional smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for a total of three every 10-12 feet, and installed one additional fire extinguisher near the rear of the unit.

2017 Miramar 37.1.

It's surprising there's not more!
Been reading FB rv questions & it's amazing how many are inquiring about adding wood burning stoves inside their rv or using propane heater inside, in storage compartments or underneath. Just as well build a campfire pit in the living area!
The Poindexter Mr Know-it-All jumps in & immediately blames the rv fridge on propane while traveling.

On the forum, there are a number of threads going back years about fire safety, fire extinguishers, adding fire blankets, and a host of other related items.

Place another fire extinguisher in your bedroom in addition to the one at the door. The standard placement for all manufacturers (at the door) is about as stupid as using staples in the construction process. You need to spray your way out of a burning RV...not in.

Almost all if not all the fires in our area are when plumbing has frozen or heat systems fail.

And there have been some over the years with standalone heaters, not sure if any had wood burners though. Didn't hear what this one was blamed on.

It was the third in a weeks' time

As noted we do have an extinguisher in the bedroom, under the sink, of course by the door and another in the basement. Typically rotate them on each year with a new one

When you see a burnt rig or the pictures it does make you stop and evaluate your own situation.

Better to have a spare, then wish you had an extra one...

I'm thinking about having four fire extinguishers in my future motorhome. Two near each door, one in the bedroom, and one in my garage/office.
