Apply any SPF 30 or higher sunscreen 30 minutes before exposure. Re-apply every two hours or immediately after swimming, etc. Wear hats and/or skin covering for especially susceptible individuals. Don't forget UV blocking sunglasses.
Take it from someone who's had two bouts of melanoma, and endured numerous severe childhood sunburns. The UV damage is permanent, and follows you into old age. It's brutal out there... take care of yourselves!!
