After 3 months of working at it I was finally able to get us 5 nights at Fort Wilderness just before Christmas.
Dec 13-18 in a Premier site.
Can't wait

Does that mean that you've got room for another rig on your site??

Great news!!
Now that you have reservations at The Mouse, you might be interested in booking the Candlelight dinner in Epcot. This is a genuinely lovely narrative of the Christmas story in song, with orchestra and with a celebrity narrator. The chorus of Disney singers is joined by high school choruses from across the state. By doing the dinner program you have guaranteed seating for the candlelight processional. It is an annual pilgrimage for our family--our entire extended family comes together for a pre-Christmas weekend. This year we even have tagalongs.

We have reservations for Ft Wilderness over New Year's, so keep the site warm for us!!!

Well Bob if it was up to me I would say I'll see you there but I don't think Disney would be enthusiastic about it !!

We just did 6 days last week and will be back for 6 days the week before Christmas. Going back again in March for a few days and will be having lunch with an imagineer. We are only 2-1/2 hrs. away so it's way too convenient to drive down there and feed the rat... DW has already booked us for the whole month of October next year. Yikes

We will be in 300 loop Dec. 10 to 15. Is nice to take Vegas there. I have learned to make reservations ahead of time each year. You can always modify or cancel.

We took four of our grandkids with us at Fort Wilderness. One of the them had a birthday and we told her the birthday present was trip for all of us to the circus. A little dejected the grandkids - "Thank You". Well the 'circus' was Cirque du Soleil La Nouba. Coming out we had 4 incredibly ecstatic grandkids. LOVED it.

Definitely one of my favorites, but Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise are right up there too.

Nothing, anywhere, compares to flying on a Banshee over at AK though.. freakin' amazing.

It's pretty tough to find a "Bad" ride in that magical place!

We are planning our long haul for April school vacation to Ft Wilderness next Spring. Driving from MA to FL. We have our route mapped but are a bit unfamiliar with the "local" FL routes...what to stay off of, better routes to avoid construction...etc.
What is the best part / loop to stay in (quieter off the bus route maybe)?
Are you able to select your site or is it arbitrarily assigned to you?
Any input would be appreciated.

Our last site was right across the street from a bus stop, it was great !
I would take that any time.
The busses are quiet and to be honest I don't think there is a bad site in the place.

Location is about the only thing that would influence site choice for me.
If you look at a map of Fort Wilderness ,which you can find online, you can see the various "loops" and their proximity to things like the boat marina , main bus hub , restaurants , shops, pools and so on. You can request a particular loop or a site but Disney will not guarantee that you will get it but in my experience they will try to deliver what you want if possible.

We drive in from North Carolina and generally just follow I-95 to I-4 and that will lead you straight into Disney.
Always lots of construction on I-4 but we have never had a problem.
