Furnace operation at high altitudes

I own a 2019 Thor Fourwinds 25V and the furnace doesn’t work at high altitudes . Thor and Dometic are telling me the model furnace I have doesn’t operate at high altitudes and a high altitude kit won’t work on it. Does anyone else have this issue?

You'll have to define high altitude.
We live at 6500ft and often are at 9500 without any problem.

You'll also have to define "doesn't work'

I believe a high altitude kit is simply an orifice size change....

I agree... A little bit more information would be helpful.

Have used the furnace in our RS26 from 400 ft to 9,318 ft with no issues.

They are telling me the same thing. Working now at 6000 feet but just cycling at altitude any higher than this. Going to be cold at the north rim unless I can fix this somehow.

2018 Thor Axis 24.1 Furnace Operation
One post contacted the furnace mfg and was told there was no adjustment for altitude. I'm going to be checking the furnace for a knob to adjust for elevation now and calling the mfg. But I can tell you at 9000 ft and 24 degrees we got cold!!! (:

Soon to be ordered and installed by me. There's room along side the useless generator door to add the tank and do an easy fill. If installed correctly it will also heat the basement.

Diesel small tank will fill often on the same pump I'm using for gas.
Fearless, fail-less.

Your generator(if you weren't near shore power) and two $12 milk house heaters would have kept it at 70° inside.
We always carry two of these heaters. They did us well at -2°f. Kept an even 60 in the bedroom with just one of them. Considerably colder at the dash about 40ish....

Camping no electric in Utah. 24.1 at 5-6000 feet worked fine. Anything above just keeps cycling. Yes I contacted Dometic 3 days ago and quote “They are not functional above 5000 feet” As I said before BS. Not interested in generator or electric heater comments. Thank goodness North Rim is only supposed to get down to low 30’s or it would be a wicked 4 nights. Will keep Dometics service response in mind when I get another RV

Generator use in National parks are not practical.

My apologies Duckface. I meant generator and electric heaters are not “practical”
