My abs light is coming on intermittently.
I can't find a pattern to it.
It has happened before and I figured it was dust on the rotors from dirt roads.
No dust, I'm on i80....

I drove 650 miles today.
999.1 miles total so far.
Gillette Wyoming.
No oncoming drivers killed by the light bar tonight, but I did catch various types of road kills on fire.
We saw THOUSANDS of pronghorn antelope. Two died of fright from the lightbar, one went straight to ash, no flames.
I am sssooo happy with this light bar even though its about 1/3rd blocked by the grill(I haven't reset the height since I installed the front hitch).
It comes on with the brights, goes off with the dims. Does a perfect fill for the road.

Will be at the right place in time to check the weather and out run cloud cover by going farther east if needed.

It'll be a casual return trip home.
A potential purchase of a barn-find car.
Small town junkyards
Light or no antique shopping.

ABS light: Check your brake fluid level. That's the easy possible cause. Another is potentially issues with the control unit or wheel speed sensors...

PECs light: Had to think about that for a second...

Light bar: Glad it's working out for you. Having to go on/off with the brights is nice.

Our first Wal-Mart stay last night.

Since we don't have leveler jacks to leave divots in their asphalt, and we don't carry a fire ring that'll melt the light pole we put it up against,
We went ahead and used my 3/4 inch macerator hose to half fill three of their garbage cans from our black tank. We didn't want to make them too heavy. It's ok though since we parked across three handicapped spaces(we didn't want to park in the red zone...that would have been taking advantage....).
We also called the cops twice due to the noise from the inconsiderate parking lot sweeper.

But Really, it was quiet and well lit.
No awnings, no jacks, no slide, no lawn chairs, no bbq, no cooking, no rv maintenance, no generator. Just parked.

And
It's not the pecs light that is worrisome.
It's the secondary sphincter alarm.

550 miles today
Somewhere in Minnesota.
Harvest Host
No notice. We posted on the HH site, host called us back in 10 minutes.
Not a soul but us within 3000 acres.
Old 1890's homestead.
In the top pic, at 3oclock, you can see the 24.1 if you look closely.
We bought $50 of her homegrown(they have 4,000 head of cattle)t-bones.

We couldn't run from the storm any further.
It's clouding up and we probably won't see the aurora.

Sky cleared to Crystal cloudless over our 1,200 acre cornfield.
No aurora.
It didnt show up.
We'll take 5 days to get back home.
Maybe we'll see it the next time it comes low.

I was hoping to escape the $30,000 and a month in a camp at
ninth level of hell Scandinavia.
I guess I'm going to the arctic circle....

It might be cheaper to buy a cabin in northern Maine or Canadia.

A note on our trip:
We passed many rv sales lots.
You couldn't have added another new rv on those lots if you used a sledge hammer.
Cram packed and overflowing. Some had an added acre or two of overflow.
Saw two new 24.1 just from the road doing 75 or 80mph.

Car lots?
Entire car malls without 100 cars in them total.
The looked like a dollar store parking lot instead of 60 acres of dealers and cars.
Very light rv traffic and oddly light to moderate tractor trailer traffic.
An abnormal amount of enclosed single car trailers. Saw maybe 100 of them in the last two days.
Always an open gas pump but busy.
Almost No police on the road.
Only saw one person getting a ticket in our 1500miles.

We went to AK but it was summer so too much light, sunset was 2am or so, sunrise around 4 as I recall. We were in MI UP a few years ago in September and the forecast was good for viewing but it's a crap shoot as you know. No lights but if we had driven out to Whitefish point we might have seen some in the distance as was reported. But that's a long drive back at night in the UP with all the BIG critters. We also visited the Maritime and Maine/New Hampshire in October a few years ago but no luck in that either. Friends led a caravan to see the polar bear migration up in Canada a couple years ago and got to see the lights.

450 miles today.
Same story. Every rv sales place had MASSIVE inventory and overflow lots filled.

Decided to stay at a municipal park tonight.
$16
Dump station
Water
Electric.
We're the only rv in the 45 spot park.
Dark as a well diggers patoot.

Tomorrow I see the barnfind 62 tbird convertible sr(like mine).
Surely a project.

A leisurely 22 hour trip home.

I have used silicone spray to remove some next to impossible stains before. I would try an out of view small area first though.

Last night we're at a Wal-Mart.
The lone star lake park in Kansas was closed. We didn't know it closed Oct 1st.
It was beautiful, I highly recommend it. We could have wildcatted, but did not. It's a bit rude and the lake had no value to us, so we didn't.

At Wal-Mart there's no other rv in the lot. Big trucks aren't allowed.
At 1am some goof with a hole in at least two pistons pulls right up next to us and proceeds to work on his truck. When I say next to us, I mean we're in a space and a half, and he's in that half space with us.
I cannot explain the noise a hole in a piston makes when it fires into the oilpan. It had also knocked his exhaust manifold loose.

Tow cops pull up, just to converse with each other and the guy takes off. Just 15 minutes of intrigue, but intrigue nonetheless.
The me of me was going to give him a hand, the me who thinks better was just going to move my RV.(another rv benefit in the RV vs fifth wheel discussion.)

He was pulling a New big fifth wheel with the wrapping and packing still on it. The truck was a late 80's flat bed turdmobile.

Tonight is an early night in Pratt Kansas. We're the only people in the municipal park with a big Lake. Water is off for the season, but electric and the tank dump is open.
$10.
Dumped the 3/4 full black tank and half full gray.
6 days and we were doing fine.
2600 miles so far.

When ford sold the
Camper Special trucks
THIS is the camper they were referencing.

That's a 1973 ford FACTORY camper.

I found it while barn diving.

845 miles yesterday.
Pratt Kansas to the Grand Canyon.
The trip is over.
No northern lights.
A set of hubcaps I didn't really need, but should own.
A barbie dream jet for a friend
Three Corel Crazy Daisy ramikins we hadn't seen before.
Not another Damn thing to show for the trip other than driving by the
Biggest frying pan in Iowa.
The worlds largest hand dug well.
The smallest worlds fair in the world.

I'd like to thank the little people for their support.

The guy in the Tiffin towing an explorer sport who thought it would be a friendly gesture to be doing 60 in a 70 zone, speed up to 78 in the passing zone, straddle the lanes so no one could get by, then immediately slow to 58mph when the lanes ended.

The 12mph under the speed limit gang members I folloewd through the small kansas silo towns on two lane roads. 15 in a 25, 30 in a 40, 55 in a 65, 65 in a 75. Has the ability, but are just dicks. Their numberz are strong. Maybe every third slow down had one.

The guy who pulled to the pump in the class c, got out, locked his door, didn't pump gas, didn't come back to the pump for 45 minutes, AFTER he had waited 10 minutes in line to get to the pump.(I watched it from the restaurant at flying c ranch.)

A true thanks to my
Not a stand-alone GPS maps.

A stand alone wouldn't have warned me of the 90 minutes to go 6 miles back-up on I-40.
We pulled over at flying C ranch, got a shower, ate, went to the gift shop, bought a small butterscotch dipped cone, walked around, checked the traffic flow and jumped into the fray once the wait was down to an hour.
And
A half dozen other little changes in route made along the way due to KNOWLEDGE supplied by my Wi-Fi and booster.

Less than 3% of the trip we were without Wi-Fi causing us to use the up-to-the-hour off-line map we downloaded.

Just a note on GPS units... My Garmin RV 980 ties into the Garmin app on my phone and will do automatic route updates for accidents or other slow downs en route, as well as provide estimates of the delay, and distance ahead for the slow down. Several times on our big trip last summer we had the chance to use these features and they work VERY well. They were very accurate and also easy to use.

From Wikipedia... "Speed limits in the United States by jurisdiction"
Quote:
After the National Maximum Speed Limit was repealed, Kansas raised its general interstate speed limit to 70 mph (113 km/h); a study found "no statistically significant increases in crash, fatal crash and fatality rates were noted during the after period on either rural or urban interstate highway networks. On the other hand, statistically significant increases in crash, fatal crash and fatality rates were observed on the 2-lane rural highway network.".[75] In 2011 Governor Sam Brownback signed legislation raising Kansas' top speed limit to 75 mph (121 km/h) on rural Interstates and limited access portions of U.S. Routes, effective July 1, 2011.[76] The Kansas Department of Transportation announced on June 21, 2011, that 807 miles of roadway, comprising the rural areas of I-70, I-35, I-135, the Kansas Turnpike and the freeway-improved sections of US-69 and US-81, will be raised to 75 mph.[77] Other four-lane, non-limited access divided highways have a speed limit of 70 mph, with 65 mph on two-lane undivided roads, and 55 mph on township roads. Prior to the National Maximum Speed Limit, the speed limit on the Kansas Turnpike used to be 80 mph (129 km/h), but was reduced to 75 mph on August 17, 1970. The minimum speed limit on Kansas Interstates is 40 mph.
Especially when towing, I NEVER exceed 65mph, except in occasional "overruns" of the cruise control on steep straight downhill stretches.

However, on open two-lane highways, if I do encounter an uneducated, inexperienced driver insisting on driving UNSAFE and tailgating me, I gradually slow down IN OBVIOUS passing zones - hoping they get a clue and go around. Bottom line... if you're in a hurry traveling in an RV, you really should reconsider your travel objectives and methods.

The slowing down in passsing zones is exactly the thing to do.
Given the chance I pull off the road and let them by me...never to be seen nor bother me again.
It takes me mere seconds to pull over once I find a place to do so.
I don't care if I'm doing 90 in an 85 zone, I'll let you pass me the first chance I can make it happen.
