How to fix flares and other thin plastic parts on your Axis/Vegas.
I can(and do) so much better work than this.
It's just a tutorial so I didn't get all fancy.
To get all fancy I'd have laid the staples on their side and could have ommitted my sad looking trimming.
Or
I'd have laid in some hardware screen instead of staples.
And
On thicker things you poke the staples all the way through just like a staple should be.
There are other ways:
I have a plastic welder.
OR
A soldering iron stippling across the crack works without staples.
(Stippling IS a word). Then you're stippling not stapling.
Or
Epoxy/glue works well but you have to hold and brace the part.
Or
Sprinkling baking soda over the crack and then squirting with super glue is super fast and super brittle.
My repair is instant and allows you to easily maneuver/twist the part as needed between adding individual, instantly holding, staples.
lots of ways to do this, this is an easy way which works just fine.
It takes mere moments, is fun, and works on things not rv related just as well.
GIANT SIZE NOTE:
do this on the UNSEEN side of your part.

Grille is at the paint shop waiting to be painted gloss black. In the mean time, is started laying out black gloss graphics on the nose. This pattern will continue the stripe from around the side and down to the black grille. i am deciding on how far down the graphic goes, left side vs right side.
I am leaning to the RHS of the picture, LHS RV. The graphics will go all the way tangent to the lower grill edge..

So my new grille came in from THOR. Nicely packed and installed. I think im just going with the production grille. a very very costly mistake on my part to try and work out scratches in a plastic chrome part. But its behind me and i learned a lesson.
I will paint my original black and that will be my repair station grille. 5 screws and its replaced.

I've wired hundreds of speakers when I was a kid, but nothing in many years.
I'm converting that yellow princess phone over to becoming an echo/alexa device. Stereo speakers are in each end of the handset, the echo sits right under the dial.
For some reason instead of me using that echo device to check the speakers I wired into the handset using the original coiled cord, I decided to plug it into the headphone jack on my shop surrround system.
Nothing
Test connections, swap wires, retest reswap
Nothing
Yadda yadda
I check it on my bench surround
Yadda yadda
Nothing
I look it up on YouTube
Nothing
I finally buy a vowel and decide to check it on the echo/Alexa and it works.
Some time in the last 30 years they snuck digital output into speaker systems(I guess).
The echo does analog or digital so it works with just the red/black wires on normal speakers.
Very frustrating, but finished.
I just need to add a 5v amplifier.
Now the princess phone for the tbird will hotspot off of my phone and play music it make calls.

My mighty mule/gto gate has finally given me some trouble.
It's 15 years old and never done more than kill the batteries.
It now beeps once, then does nothing.
Mouse pee is everywhere on it.
No chewed wires though.
To keep from digging across the driveway I need to add two 8 pin connectors so I can take it all to the shop and put it on the bench.
(Unless we buried conduit but I don't remember buying any)
I hate doing connectors while sitting cross legged in the dirt and Sun.
I DO have an entire backup double gate gto system I've been hoarding for years.
Disgruntled neighbor hated the double gate opener for the wrong reason and sold it to me in a fit of anger for $100.
The problem was the posts moving, not the gate being stupid, but she couldn't be convinced, She was sure the opener was ripping the posts loose. Two months old unit.
I'm dicking around here typing instead of gutting that gate unit.
I have added
Alexa
Liftmaster opener
Google
A Wi-Fi booster
Camera
Remote keypad
Intercom
Sensors/announcers on each side.
Sssoooo many wires to tin, sort, make pretty, mount,

I finally got the OEM grille re-installed on the RV. I have come to an agreement with the truck repair facility that damaged the original grille. Replacement parts are very expensive and keeping my RV in OEM condition is paramount when I can. I now have 2 grilles and the old one will be the service grille, and no more worries about mechanics scratching it during repairs. I understand many service centers do not permit customers observing the repairs to there RV's. I always ask the manager if I can inspect the vehicle and they are accommodating. Try to stay out of the way. The oil change is a great opportunity for me to get under the RV and inspect for debris damage, corrosion and fluid leaks. Specially since a service bulletin came out with a fluid leak in the rear differential.

Our rv theories are almost opposite poles.
I pioneered the theory that our low line/least expensive Thor Motorhomes are a 'kit'.
They lend you a $60 microwave and a $99 tv so you have time to find out what is important to you and can easily replace that lended $20 bathroom fan with the $400 fan. This keeps initial cost at a bare minimum and lets me decide if a $400 fan is important without charging me for the $400 fan I don't want. I have found out there are 32 inch tv's which cost $3,200. I am very glad Thor did not saddle me with three of those and most here are glad they don't have the $2,200 microwave.
Except for floor plan, there will be very very few Thor factory parts left on my vehicle.
But
I do understand the oem type decision makers.
Swap in the wrong part and suddenly you're a parts cannon operator .
The suspension change folks here often go through this.
Your post did make me go inspect my grill. The windshield replacement guys had dripped some stuff on it that made spots as big as quarters and I hadn't noticed until you inspired me. Luckily it wiped right off or I'd be painting mine black.

I noticed i can't see on the FORD temp controls, where the setting is? So I added white arrows on the controls. Now I know where the setting is.

Diapers
Corners of bins
Absorbs condensation and spills and outright rain leaks.
Today's diapers have a dessicant type material which holds, and does not leak it back out, many many many times its weight in water. They dry out over a long period of time. It's almost satisfying to find a slightly stiff dried out one that has quietly done its job of gathering an ounce or a pint.
An inexpensive precaution and a good way to absorb spills in hard to reach places like behind drawers and under the sink.

It is very important to remember :
All vehicles have problems not just rv's(despite the blind narrow stuff we read here. Granted, our rv was hand assembled in the usa instead of being precision built by robots at a 12,0001- a day rate)
Some people live like pigs.
My electrician friend or sister-in-law might be an ignorant sack of crap and when she says 'engineer' she means she pulls wire through conduit for a living. Being my acquaintance does not lend them expertise, though I might be silly enough to turn them loose on my ecm problem to save a dollar.

BTW I got my replacement grille from the paint shop. Now I have 2, my driving Chrome grille and my maintenance work grille painted black gloss...
If I get motivated, I will install the black for pictures, but for now. I keep my hands off anything starting with a "G"

If you mount that Thor grill upside down somewhere spectacular I bet the underside of those grille bars will act as shelves for a LOT of knick-knacks/hotwheel cars...it would be unique and clever and a talking point when you have garage company.
Just a thought.

2018 came standard with the one I have. Its just a flat aluminum satin finished bar about 1/4x1/2". Standard stuff at any big hardware store.
But
It would take little effort and little skill to bend some conduit even WIDER than mine is.
Given the need I'd go from up against the cabinet over the toilet all the way to the medicine cabinet and ellipse it out for maximum upper body room.
Even a few inches of added shoulder is a LOT in that shower.

Just tossed on there due to the spousal unit wanting her chair for a picnic.
I dragged the chair out of the side door because it was unlocked and I was too lazy to get the keys and open the rear hatch. I'll fix it when I put the chair back.
I bought the Thor a 75ft self reeling hose I haven't bothered to install yet. It will add little value as the hose is only to fill our tank, we NEVER use shore water as a supply.
A joke line I wrote years ago:
'When it comes down to a turd crawling out of your pant leg or not,
I Assure you, it Always Depends.'

There is absolutely no doubt that society is degenerating right before our eyes.
Government policies are encouraging and dumbing down society as a goal in order to attain the degree of loyalty and dependency they need to maintain status control.
When you abandon SAT and other measures of knowledge to enable those not able to perform to attend and graduate it shows just where we are as a society.
If you check across the world you will find two major players are graduating geometrically times the amount of Professional people especially in the Sciences and Engineering.
Unfortunately, we are all impacted by the lessening skill set and knowledge base that is heading towards us like a run-away train.
We are in for an interesting time if the going gets tougher with very few able to function now without assistance.
Well so much for that and back to polishing the Tuscany.
About time to light the grill and get the steak on as well.

I’ve got 3 claw hammers. A short 8 lb sledgehammer. A shoestring 12 Lb sledgehammer. A long 16 lb sledgehammer. 2 ballpeen hammers. And a couple other various hammers. I’m a CFP. But I pretty much know what hammer to use to get the job done.
