Maine in September??
Looking at going to Maine this September. Last minute decision. I will be in a 30' C with a toad. Any pointers regarding roads to avoid, weather, campgrounds.

You did not indicate early or late September and I do not know when this campground closes for the season. But if it fits your time frame, you might want to consider the Schoodic Woods Campground in Acadia National Park.
This is near Winter Harbor, much quieter than the Bar Harbor side out on the island. Nice campground, rocky Maine coast nearby. get your fill of lobster.

By late September, all the "summer complaint" will be gone. Mount Katahdin will probably be snow caped but Baxter State park is still a great place. I love the Fish River Chain northern Maine lakes - Long, Mud, Cross, Square and Eagle.

Thanks for the info. Went online to look at both places without any luck. We really like the federal campgrounds but am open to most anything. I'll keep looking. Probably gonna get up that way mid Sept.

The brackets were bent to so bad they will have to replaced . Able to position awning to the closed position and pin it closed so it would not open . If it hadn't been for 2 neighbors and their help I would have been in a bind to find someone local .

I recommend the Lake View Campground on Long Lake. <https://www.lakeviewrestaurant.biz/camping.html>. There are several other places near St Agatha, ME

Thanks, everyone. DW and I are going to review all the recommendations. We like to travel w/o reservations but Maine may not be the place to do that. Thanks, again.
