IMHO, ditch the Aussie and get a Weber Q. You’ll be glad you did. We had 2 Aussie grills and they were both a POS.
You da man. Destiny had it that we had not used it so it is still very clean brand new, the Lodge Cast iron griddle fits perfectly inside and allows the top rack to stay in place I just ordered it off Amazon with 55% off.

My wife likes it already, she says she can also use it inside the RV on the propane stove, and inside the house on our electric stove stop.

It does seem that it would be very difficult to clean if you actually cooked on top of those grates with meat But it does look very nice, has top shelf and built in cover, provide great heat with temperature gauge, and the stand is a bonus, so I am gonna go with EA37TS's advice to get the Lodge cast iron griddle to cook on top of it. When the times come to chunk it, I will and then the Blackstone and Weber Q will be on top of the list.

We’re pretty similar. A 22” Blackstone (with flip up cover and folding stand) and a Weber Smokey Joe (14”) charcoal grill.

Thinking about installing a heavy duty slide-out shelf in one of my basement compartments and permanently fastening the Blackstone to the slide-out. Would make set up a lot simpler.

I've been thinking the same thing. I have the flip cover on our Blackstone and love it but it is a little heavy. I do like the stand. Evidently I'm getting lazier by the day, or maybe just smarter lol
