Recording your favorite shows to watch when you don't have internet

I just signed up for PlayOn, a dvr like recording program that will record your shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, ect. I got the Home version and am putting the recordings on an attached solid state hard drive. When we go somewhere where there is no WiFi or cell service, I will transfer those programs we want to watch onto a thumb drive and stick it in the back of the TV.
You can also save them to your phone and cast them to your TV. $40 for a year. Not bad.

Thanks for the referral link. Been meaning to add this and kept forgetting. Looks like the referral link gave me 5 extra months for free. At least it says I'm not billed for the year until May 3rd.

That's an excellent idea.
It's already free with Netflix and Amazon.
But it would be great for other premium channels.

Nice we use YouTube tv to download anything. And download Netflix Amazon hbo to phones and hook up hdmi to any TV

PlayOn is only $40 a year. YouTube TV is $65 a month.

If you didn't have a base(say...youtube) to record from how would it work?
You ignored the netflix and Amazon ability to record.

No one is saying it lacks value.
We're saying it's something some of us have pieced together for 40 years or more, clear back to beta tapes.

Its a nice compact system. It has value.
But
It's a beta tape, upgraded.
