Overall Experience

After one year of the RV experience, we just completed Spring Break in FL State Parks.

1) Everything worked great on the RV, Electric, water heaters, beds, level jacks, slide out, shower, drainage, RV drive in windy conditions.

2) TV tuned right up, HDMI ports, charging ports, refrigerator, AC units,

Thanks THOR for providing an experience like this to be shared with family.

THOR 30.4 2021.

That is good to hear

After our initial problems created by ignorant asses at the factory, we had had no issues in the past 5 years that couldn't be handled.

The Tuscany was very well built contrary to what you hear about many other products.

There are a few of us that have been happy. I'm one too. Hopefully we will be for some years to come!

The first year with my Thor was a nightmare. I spent a lot of my free time fixing things that Thor didn't do right. Being a handy person, I felt it was better to use the coach and fix things myself, then let it sit at a dealers facility waiting to be worked on. Since then, I have no complaints about my coach. Things that have failed or broken were not of Thor's making. But all told, my next coach will not be from Thor's stable.

Yes, i figure it took me a yr to get all the bugs out of the RV and about 9,000 miles on a new ACE.

I'm with you, fix as much as you can using this Forum, I have everything setup and each compartment has a HUSKY box with all needed, extra 30 amp cables, plenty of 15-30 amp, 30-50 amp, 50-30 amp adapters, pwr testers etc.

For example, State Parks have no hookups for waste water, no problem now, in and out in 5-10 min, tubes, caps, hose cleaner, extra gloves etc.

We hear complaints about Thor ALL the time - not without justification, for sure. But they’re almost always about newly acquired machines. I wonder how many folks end up with a pretty good coach after a few months or a year. When I had mine I frequently asked fellow campers how they liked their Thor and very nearly always the answer was that “I had some problems at first but now it’s fine”. I hope that is the case.

I can honestly say we've had a pretty decent experience with our 2020 Thor the first two years. Many upgrades... and in the process I've found lots of glue and staples waiting to pop loose. But so far, nothing serious at all.

I think we were VERY fortunate to get a "pre-Covid" built coach, which included the (now non-existing) 30% discount off of a REASONABLE MSRP.

With today's insane inflated MSRP and miniscule discounts on often poorly built coaches - I count myself very lucky to have bought when we did in fall of 2019.

All RV's are pretty much just a collection of other manufacturers parts. If the components are installed wrong that's on Thor. When trim falls off or drawers aren't closing, that's on Thor too. Now if the fridge quits or the furnace goes out that's on Norcold or Attwood.
As owners we sometimes make the mistake of lumping all failures on the RV manufacturer.
I will add that Thor does use some extremely, shall we say, cheap parts that are more prone to failure.

All that aside we are pretty happy with are collection of parts

Most of the quote "cheep parts" are in most of the RV's sold including trailers. That being said, most work well. You want higher level parts, get above $750k. All manufactures of medium to lower end units try hard to keep the cost down. They purchase in bulk and at the lowest cost. The TV in my fifth wheel was $68 to replace. I chose to do it myself and replace with an LG on sale at Costco for $96. My microwave/convention oven failed. Another $58 to replace, but I chose to do it my self and install a GE.

Chateau Nomad,
You're exactly right. We bought a 2020 Axis 24.1 with 12,000 miles. Depreciation factored into an incredible deal. I have come to realize we have a year model that was produced prior to covid and the worker shortage, but also 2 years after Thor went through the problems associated with their massive expansion/accumulation from 2012 through 2017. We were also fortunate to be one of the first Thor models with the gasoline generator.

Ummm, all Axis/Vegas units have had gasoline generators as have all Thor's other Class A gasoline powered motor homes.

The Hurricane is our third RV in 6 years and I learned that the first year is "debugging" time.
Just returned from 1500 miles Spring Break Vacation and everything worked:
Really happy with the Hurricane performance

I think many situations of high level frustration are caused by false expectations and wrong attitude.

Attitude:
You are on vacation and something goes wrong... If you can't fix quickly and it will not hold you from move around and return home, it should not ruin your trip.
Put on the list of things to be fixed and keep enjoying your trip!

False expectations:
Even cars and computers that are assembled by robots are recalled for quality issues (and sometimes not even recalled ) so it is really a false expectation that you will not have some problems with your RV.
If you set your expectation right, you work to mitigate that (have a good dealer) and prepare for it.

I never had quality problems with my tents, but all of them I sealed from the inside the first day so they never leaked....

I learned early in life that happiness when it comes to things are not in what you have but what you DO with what you have.
