2" riser??

There has been some talk on another site about needing a 2" riser added to the frame in order to get the Suites to ride level. We have sent in a deposit check on a new Mobile Suites 43' Atlanta to Rolling Retreats and am wondering if we need to add this to the list of "specials" on our order. We will be towing with a 2014 Ram 3500 dually 4x4. I definitely want to tow level, not head up nor tail up.

Our current Select Suites has what looks like a 2" section added to the frame above the axles and I ride level. However the Select Suites only has a 12" iBeam frame. The Mobile Suites has a 15" stacked frame. So, all in all, I am clueless about whether I need the 2" riser or not.

My Select has the regular Trail Air suspension, while the new Mobile will have the More ryde IS suspension.

Any ideas?

Joe

I ordered the risers on my 2015 and I needed it. You will also need to watch the bed rail clearance if you don't order it.

I told Alicia I wanted the riser she convinced my I did not need it. I do need it! My RAM has factory air ride.

I will leave it at that!

Mine has the 2" riser and I am towing fairly level but we have a Freightliner M2 as a tow vehicle. Ken at RVs for Less recommended getting it and I'm glad he did....

Any ideas how much the 2" riser will cost me to have added to my order?

I don't have my build sheet right now, but I think it was like $400 or so before your discount.

I have 2014 Ram 3500 4X4 Dually / MS 43' Dallas. I have the 2" lift, I tow level and have plenty of bed rail clearance.

I was told I did not need the risers when I ordered mine. That was bad advice. About three weeks ago in had More Ryder install the risers. First I ride level and the IS suspension works better with the level trailer vs more weight on the rear axle. I sit 13'5" high.

I have emailed Rolling Retreats for a price on getting the 2" risers installed. I will report when I hear.

A few things come to mind with regarding the riser.

First, yes get it. You won't regret having it but will probably regret not having it.
Second, consider having it the entire length of the main frame. This will give you a 17" frame instead of the standard 15" and a correspondingly stronger frame. DRV will do this if asked to.
Third, the Mor/Ryde IS is adjustable and can raise or lower the entire camper.

I have the Mor/Ryde IS and a Trailer Saver hitch. I pulled the trailer once with the pickup bed on my truck and I had very little clearance above the bed rails. I would have had to install the risers for the hitch if I had kept the pickup bed. Since I was having an RV hauler bed installed it worked out OK. With the hauler body I was able to have the trailer suspension lowered.

I just heard back from Rolling Retreats. Alicia said it was $350 to add it and that she would get Kyle at DRV to add it.

Whew, I feel much better now.

Have you had a chance to measure your clearance at the back corner of the bed?

Talking

Debbie flew to OKC today and rented a car to drive to Rolling Retreats to finalize everything on the new rig. Alicia spent most of the afternoon with her and we are very happy with the results.

On the 2" riser item, it lists a $300 cost for this. Also included is lowering the back 4 levelers to compensate for the 2" riser. I guess I never really thought about needing to lower the rear levelers.

Those of you that have the 2" riser, did your back 4 levelers get lowered also?

It won't really matter to me either way since I always put 3 2x12 boards underneath each leveler before punching auto level.

Boy, I thought we were excited about the new unit being ordered before, but now that all the paperwork is done, WE ARE SUPER EXCITED!!!!!

Joe
