Wheel bearing grease

Getting the last few things ready to start the wheel/brake maintenance job.
Is there a brand of grease that has proven itself better than most?

Any of the better name brands wheel bearing rated grease is good

Folks have personal preferences but in 60 years of packing bearings i have never found a favorite, just don't any cheap no name brands

It is also best to not mix grease, if you are removing them, clean them well

If using EZ lube use the same type already in the bearings and cavity

I have used Mobil 1 for decades. Bearings and lube points needing a grease gun.

Any quality brand of high temp grease will be sufficient, as mentioned don't cheap out.
Also would recommend NEVER use the EZ Lube system unless you're 110% sure your grease seals will hold pressure, otherwise you can/will fill the brake drums full of grease whether you follow the recommended procedure or not, which by the way doesn't help the stopping distances.
There are a few folks that swear by the EZ Lube system & there are tons of us that swear at that system for the reasons mentioned above.
I think that most DRV 5th wheels have disc brakes, some have oil bath bearings, so this wouldn't be as big a problem has drum brakes, but still wouldn't use that system.
The best way is HAND PACK ONLY!!!!

My manual wheel packer does a great job. Packed thousands of bearings that way.

I was referring to the grease zerks in the end of the spindles designed to pump grease through the bearings without removing the hubs, not a bearing packer.

EZ lube spindles can only be properly lubed by slowly spinning the wheel while adding grease and monitoring for the break between old and new exiting the front bearing

I have always used them to extend the miles between pulling the hubs and manually repacking and replacing the seals

The bearings need to be inspected at whatever milage your comfortable with

Change to "oil bath" here is what you will need. Lube calipers, replace junk pads/bearings and use the "O" ring I show.

Not all wheel bearing greases are created equal. The manufacturer will have a specific recommendation for the type of grease to use, such as temperature and special additives. Make sure the grease you purchase meets the requirements

Fifteen minutes and you'll know more than you need to.
I've bought Red and tacky since this video.
I had to buy something and as said above, grease is generally grease down to a certain low end price point and even then it's serviceable.
Two tubes last me long time.
And
They have an aerosol spray can with the same red and tacky grease in it. It's been handy.

I'm loving my ryobi battery grease gun and zerk lock.
Only Two fingers needed instead of three hands....

I like this one. It's tacky and doesn't separate while stored in our summer heat. I clean and repack every 3-4 years. Always looks good when I take the hubs off.
