Bedroom Door Fix

After 20 years of travel trailer ownership we bought a 2017 38RSSA Mobile Suite. Disappointed to see that DRV is using the same type of press-in door latch assemblies that were on all of prior travel trailers. My experience is that the press-in door latches get loose and wobbly after bouncing down the road a while. Many times we arrived at our destination and found that our interior door had come open in transit and was just swinging back and forth as we rolled down the road.

I installed a magnetic door stop / hold-back (from Lowes / Home Depot) on our DRV bedroom door to keep the door in the open position while in transit. To test that our door is staying put while we drive, I've scotch taped a string from the wall to the door. After driving all day, the string was still in place.

Thought I would pass this little tip along. I will also post this on the 5th Wheel Forum. Picture attached.

I thought the bedroom door was the pocket door. And that bottom lock and plastic strap do not hold that door closed on transit. I take bungee cords and microfiber towels and stap that pocket door when in transit. It looks like a bathroom door in your picture. Mine stays closed/latched, Plus the bed slide is an inch or so from it when closed. So there is no way it can open. Great tip as those stops are good ones. I installed them on my Mother in laws place years ago.

I place a pillow between the bathroom door and BIG bedroom slide on out 39TKSB3.

I have a pin I drop in front of the pocket door at the bottom and also have a pc of pipe insulation I capture between the door edge and plastic snap strap at top of door.

Closet doors I have installed a push down latch.

Rynosback - thanks for the note. My floorplan has a pocket door for the bathroom, but a hinged swinging door for the bedroom. Our bathroom pocket door came with a drop pin at the bottom from the factory - haven't had any issues with it staying put. The magnetic hold-back is for my bedroom door.

I use an adjustable tension rod to keep pocket door in place. Also place a pillow there just for insurance.
