Just replaced all 4 today. One was missing, one was rattling around inside hub cap and two were finger tight. All were broken!

Replacement caps say on them 20-30'# to. I used my 12" slip joint pliers and set my wrist to 25.

I bought a socket and adapter for $20, so I could use my 3/8's torque wrench. My 1/2 does not go that low.

I just wanted to get them done. It's pretty easy by hand, tighten until the plastic flange makes contact with the hub. If you put much pressure beyond that they will break.

I guarantee DRV was installing with impact gun!

The clear caps are polycarbonate (aka Lexan). My guess is that the white caps are PVC. I just had all 4 of my white caps break on a recently installed MORryde IS system. MORryde sent me 4 clear caps and I replaced them all in about an hour yesterday.

Cummins=I'll take that bet.
I was at the factory last Friday and watched them being installed. With a torque wrench.

I said "WAS" using an impact. I am sure they are3 doing it the proper way NOW!

No different than all the over torqued screws that are broken off on the sides of my 120K RV!

Our MS had a broken cap at delivery. Dealer replaced it then with another white cover. I contacted Kodiak today to ask about the white covers, and they confirmed a brittle batch. The representative took my information and they are shipping me replacement covers that are clear. Impressive service.

The tech didn't seem too concerned about proper torque, just said to throw a crescent wrench on them and then use reasonable force for a plastic fitting. I'll probably still order a socket for them though...

Great thread everyone. Very helpful.

Slip joint pliars worked well. That would be a very BIG Crescent wrench to extent to fit!

I guarantee you all are broken! Mine were and they looked fine until one broke off and took out the end cap on the hubcap.

Only get the clear ones. I had a set of white ones sent and torqued them to 19lbs and then a couple of weeks latter did some bearing work. And the replacement white ones were cracked. They sent the clear ones to me. So if you have white caps, get them replaced.

DRV has been great with everything also.

Did DRV send the clear ones to you or Kodiak? I guess I will have to check mine after the next outing!

Take your white ones off and check them. I pulled them off to repack my bearings and they were cracked. And I torqued them to their spec of 19 lbs.

Changing the break pads already? What is going on? Just want something with higher performance?

The stock pads Kodiak uses age just "okay" per Kodiak! Kevin said no one wants to pay for the "best".

On my 07.5 I needed a new rotor, caliper and pads so I ordered them from Kevin at Kodiak. I asked about pad quality and said I wanted the best. He said to buy NAPA's "Best" quality SemiMetallic pads. So I did and the trailer stopped seamlessly. I towed the 07.5 with this new truck and it stopped great. The new MS stops good but not great! So I will be replacing the pads with NAPA UP-7136-M pads.

When you have had something that is great it's hard to settle for good!

I also will be re lubing the slide bolts and all mating surfaces with the proper silicone grease because I want to know it's done right with so much riding on it!.

Good to know.

Maybe since I haven't experienced "the best" yet, I'm still okay with good. They're certainly much better than the drum brakes on my old trailer.

Oh yeah-clear dust covers and stuff. Sorry for getting off-topic everyone. Easily distracted here...
