FYI those 10# are VERY strong. May put a lot of stress on some doors.

The heavier duty latches (male pieces) are larger and require repositioning the screws!

I went through our "new" trailer and added the small washers to ALL of the doors as that all but ended our broken latch issues in '15 Suites!

Changed trailers? Did you get a newer Suite?

He only shares with special people. Don't you have to be a "Senior" to have a Senior Moment???

“ Changed trailers? Did you get a newer Suite?”

Sorry Ryan, I didn’t make a big deal out of it BUT we left the 2015 RSSA in AZ this spring and bought a 2019 RSSA out of Whiskey Mountain. Basically we just upgraded a little.

By the time we got it back to WI we had managed to break a couple of latches, I was lazy and didn’t get on adding the little washers right away. Oh well, live and learn!

Dan

Has anybody though about WHY these things break ! I believe NOW that our trailer FLEXS a lot more than first though and the FINE quality of build causes things to move and become MISALIGNED!!! just saying , my opinion!!

So if I go to a standard a cabinet maker told me, 20 inches max spacing between hinges I need 5 more hinges to help eliminate wear???

Since my original post I have had 2 latch failures. One on a big door with 3 hinges on 16 inch spacing and the second on 42 inch long door with 2 hinges at 27 spacing.

The weight of the door, both static and dynamic going down the road can't bear all the weight thus the latch is always in stress.

MY analysis and opinion with the support adding extra hinges to the panty has solved my biggest cabinet head ache.
