Cable system for 2012 Moble Suite

Hi all, We have a 2012 Moble Suites 38rssb3 with the Schwintek bedroom slides, which we had nothing but trouble with.I put in a call to DRV last week to see if that system could retro fitted the a cable system and they said yes, just wondering if anyone in DRV land has done this? and their opinion if the swap is worth doing. Any Comments would be appreciated,Thx Terry

I had problems with my bedroom slide also. Replaced by DRV and still had problems. Went to Lippert a year ago and so far it is working fine. Most problems are with installation at DRV and not the system.

I also had the front jacks replaced after having problems. The original jacks were undersized and they were replaced by Lippert with the newer models. The older type has a metal sleeve over the exposed piston and the newer has no sleeve. DRV and Lippert have an arrangement to replace these at no cost to the customer.

R12, this statement interest me. Our 2016 appears to have a metal sleeve over our front pistons so I am wondering why Lippert/DRV would be replacing older ones because of an issue but still installing them on new units. Any idea why they were replacing them? I don't want our unit to get out of warranty then have something like this come back to bite us.

R12 is this what you had replaced? If so where was the work done? What were your symptoms?

They are not installing them on the new units now. I know because I was at the factory about 6 weeks ago. And I asked Sean why the change in jacks? I think he said that some units had a seal issue. Plus the newer jacks are higher rated.

Nice looking box there.

Great, I guess I will call DRV and see if there is any chance we can get ours replaced. We have had an issue with our front jacks bouncing on the way down in Auto-Level mode. My feeling is it should be nice and smooth. It is a little scary when the front of the trailer starts bouncing as it is on it's way down before leveling.

Apologizes to the OP for hijacking this thread.

Thanks! One of my summer projects. Keeps the RV more stable. Smaller boxes for the back 4 pads.

We just had our front jacks replaced 2 weeks ago. They would extend while driving and drag on the road. We had them looked at 3 different places including Lippert. Our unit is over 2 years old. Called DRV and they said to call Lipppert. They said they would send new jacks free of charge but would not pay for labor. They sent the old style jacks. Labor to replace the jacks was $2,000.

Just a comment to the original poster, onetondodgeman, the bedroom slides can be fixed. We had Slade at Rolling Retreats rebuild ours and have had no issues at all for 18 months. He can explain what the issue is and the right way to fix it.

Thx, Missourijan I have had contact with Slade early on with this problem,My shop here in Bakersfield,Ca. has squared up the hole for the big slide and it seems to be working so far,and it's in the shop now for the vanity slide which broke a roller, and in the process eat up a track,so waiting on parts for that.Just threw the idea of switching to cable system but had heard horror story about that system too.May call Slade and make a appointment to have him look at this thing. We love the rig but the Schwintec leaves a lot to be desired. Thx again

Yea, like I've said before there should have been a class action suit against Lippert. They didn't just sell those systems to Drv, there are many threads on rv forums for other brands that have these channel Schwintek slide system and they all have issues if they installed them on anything but a little slide like the vanity ones we have.

No problems at all with our bedroom or vanity cable slides in 2-1/2 years.

Just a side note, we had to replace our jacks last week due to other issues and the replacement jacks still have the sleeves over the rams. I think these are 22,000 pounds rams and I don't think anything larger is used on these units.
