Check your brake hoses

I am at DRV talking with another owner and he wanted to check out how my brakes were routed. Thank goodness as we spotted one of my brake lines is rubbing on a bracket. If they had just installed the line at a little more of an angle it would never had rubbed. Luckily I caught it before I lost my brakes.

Does not surprise me! I had Slade at Rolling Retreats adjust mine, just a bit too much stress on my hoses. This is my RV on the production line, little too much stress on the line when suspension is extended IMHO.

The job MORryde did when adding my risers put DRV to shame!!! MORryde tech said we tear everything off DRV did and "do it right".

I'll second the motion Ron! When at MORRyde last summer they re-routed our brake lines as part of the riser install, they did a phenomenal job!!

Hard to believe how some of that stuff gets by the QC at the plant.

Had my lines re routed at Mor/Ryde last month. I also installed a protective cover on the rubber portion. I used the same stuff they use to protect the electrical wires.

They only problem with putting them in a wiring loom, is that you can not see them to inspect them from time to time. They are rubber and will dry rot and crack.

I have my entire suspension system checked by Mor/Ryde annually. Wheels pulled. bearings cleaned and repacked, brakes checked, tires rotated etc. If it goes bad in a year, I am screwed.

$325.00 and another$325 to have the brake lines rerouted. The suspension is annual for me plus I go to TwinLakes RV in Lagrange for soup to nuts preventative maintenance...This to is annual.

And was poor! Granddad always told me that the guy that put it together was not a damn bit smarter than me, he had just done it more times, so I've always done my own work & figure if I can't do it it will be in such a shape that whoever fixes it will earn their pay. So far so good.

My Daddy taught me to "use my head and not my back". Glad to pay someone to do a job right the first time. If you have IS you cannot check the alignment and do an alignment if needed.

With a bad back, I don't bend well enough to always do my own work. But I do know enough to check the work of others, when possible. This thread is about correcting misrouted break lines. My guess is, it is just as likely that something might be misrouted by the fell doing the maintenance. So, it always pays to check the work you paid to have done.

If you can check alignment on a standard spring system there is no reason you can't check an IS system. Axle placement, camber and toe is all there is to check. No caster on trailers. Correcting alignment in the spring system requires bending of the axles. Much easier on the IS system using shims.

Good luck with that "pay someone to do the job right". Even MORryde is not perfect! I serviced my NeverLube bearings and removed the big cap. They broke 3 out of 4 and the rubber "O" ring was destroyed on each of those. I just replaced them and ran electrical tape around to keep them in place and sealed.

My advice is to lube all mating surfaces and slide bolts with proper silicone grease and use blue Loctite on bolts. There is a recall for the bolts coming loose and DRV recommends red, IMHO that is a overkill!

One thing I do know fairly well is brake calipers. From 2000-2016, my company manufactured brake calipers and I was a Machining, a Maintainance and an Assembly Supervisor over those 16 years; so I do understand how they are manufactured and how to maintain them.
