Closet Rod Mod By KS RV

We took our DRV to Kansas RV Center to take care of all our warranty issues before warranty runs out. Our closet ceiling had developed a gap. Rick at Kansas RV said that all the weight on our closet rod was causing the closet ceiling to sag. You can see the small gap above the closet rod in the picture below (upper right corner of picture).

They fixed the gap and added a board to support the rod from the floor.

If you full time and have a ton of clothes hanging on your closet rod (like we do) you could do this mod yourself. The closet rod goes directly thru the board and the board is secured at floor and ceiling of closet.

Great fix. Ours has a center support that attaches to the ceiling.

I had them add backing and two supports. Even that the screws started coming loose. Reason??? Self drilling screws! So I drilled out the holes in the brackets and used larger screws.

When we took out all the closet paneling of our 2016 JX450 to reinstall the nosecap insulation, we reinforced the ceiling where the screws for the rod attaches with short pieces of 1x2 and Fuze It.

We reinstalled the closet rod by screwing into the reinforcing wood. We also reinstalled the center support KS RV installed for us when we bought the rig from them.
