Compressor on 2017 Ford Super Duty
What is the best location for an air compressor and tank under the bed? What size tank is recommended on this truck?
I purchased a 2017 F350 DRW last fall, and am considering putting a Vair system on it.

Some searching on the Ford forums--- FTE.com and TheDieselstop.com will find several pictured installs of the Viair/others, usually on the passenger side between the frame and outer body. Not sure there are any '17s yet, but lots of previous models.
If you get it done, please take pics of your install to help others, including myself.

I see you have bags. Did you ever tow without them? If so why did you add them?

Haven't towed the fiver yet with this truck.
But, I've had them in the past, and got a smokin deal on a pair of 7500, so I spent an afternoon, and slipped them on. I loaded up the truck with a bunch of metal (about 1.5 ton) the other day, and putting in 25lb into the bags made the truck less bouncy on a bad highway in Az at highway speeds.
Don't know if I will used them with the fiver yet.

I have two tanks.
A 3 gallon steel tank I got with my air bags. That is mounted under the passenger side rear door.
I just looked at that tank yesterday, I don't think it will last the season due to the corrosion from our winters.
I have a second 5 gallon stainless steel tank mounted above the driveshaft.
The space above the shaft on my truck could probably fit an 8 or 10 gallon tank.

I know PICTURES, PICTURES -- i will try to put some on my page.
I have a viair 200 psi system that I bought from hornblasters.com
I have a 5 gallon tank mounted on the right rear - in front of the right rear tire. All of the plumbing and wiring goes up the passenger side. I have a shrader valve off of the tank so that I can hook up an air hose. I also have air horns mounted in the front behind the air dam.
System works great. I will try to take some PICS this weekend.

Are you using a regulator for the horns? They shouldn’t be supplied with much more then 100 psi.
I have the twin Viair 200 psi 100% duty compressors too.
To maximize longevity I plumbed in two pressure switches, 150 and 200 psi, using a double pole switch to choose which pressure I want.
90% of the time I use the the 150 pressure switch.
