Dexter agreed to send me a new set of clips even though I am not the original owner and I’d already installed a set of replacements. I’ll get back to y’all when they arrive and I see which version they send.

Still need to source the flexible brakes lines. Dexter (Kodiak) wants over $400 per pair. I see them elsewhere for about 1/2 that. Still looking.

Hoses - 90 degree
BH-3MFS90FF-021

Hoses - straight
BH-3MFSFF-018

Hoses are $20-$30 each. Google for best pricing and if looking for the straight ends, make sure it is 18” and not 18 feet.

Adapter for straight hose, 90 degree 3/16" FIF x 1/8" NPT

They sent the thick clips. Fast shipping too.

Installed the new brake clips sent by Dexter (remember I installed an earlier set from the recall last summer), replaced the flexible brake lines, made and installed a new hard line that was ruined in our brake/wheel/tire debacle a couple weeks ago. Still awaiting a proper bleeder assembly, but my temporary fix will get us on the road until then (next week).

My tire/wheel warranty shelled out about $1800 for the damage. I spent well above that by the time the roadside service came out with tires and labor, but I won’t turn it down.

This thread was instrumental in helping me learn more about the brake clip issue and find the parts I needed to repair the damage. Thanks to all who contributed.

I still have some brake problems, but at least the new 1/4" chrome moly retainers seem to work well.

Two trips totalling 860 miles and when checking today the wheels spun freely. First time in 5 years they spun this good.

Those are just like the calipers used on Oshkosh trucks, there are shims that are used, you install the caliper and with feeler gauge measure the amount of gap between the caliper and the bracket and depending on that gap different shims are used, too loose the caliper flips off the bracket, to tight and the caliper can’t fully release.

That sounds informative and makes sense. First I’ve heard of it.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for this information, would you happen to know any more information on the Oshkosh trucks that they are on? Looking for year make and model?
