Dexter agreed to send me a new set of clips even though I am not the original owner and I’d already installed a set of replacements. I’ll get back to y’all when they arrive and I see which version they send.
Still need to source the flexible brakes lines. Dexter (Kodiak) wants over $400 per pair. I see them elsewhere for about 1/2 that. Still looking.

Hoses - 90 degree
BH-3MFS90FF-021
Hoses - straight
BH-3MFSFF-018
Hoses are $20-$30 each. Google for best pricing and if looking for the straight ends, make sure it is 18” and not 18 feet.
Adapter for straight hose, 90 degree 3/16" FIF x 1/8" NPT
DBC-FIF-MP-90

Installed the new brake clips sent by Dexter (remember I installed an earlier set from the recall last summer), replaced the flexible brake lines, made and installed a new hard line that was ruined in our brake/wheel/tire debacle a couple weeks ago. Still awaiting a proper bleeder assembly, but my temporary fix will get us on the road until then (next week).
My tire/wheel warranty shelled out about $1800 for the damage. I spent well above that by the time the roadside service came out with tires and labor, but I won’t turn it down.
This thread was instrumental in helping me learn more about the brake clip issue and find the parts I needed to repair the damage. Thanks to all who contributed.

I still have some brake problems, but at least the new 1/4" chrome moly retainers seem to work well.
Two trips totalling 860 miles and when checking today the wheels spun freely. First time in 5 years they spun this good.

Those are just like the calipers used on Oshkosh trucks, there are shims that are used, you install the caliper and with feeler gauge measure the amount of gap between the caliper and the bracket and depending on that gap different shims are used, too loose the caliper flips off the bracket, to tight and the caliper can’t fully release.

That sounds informative and makes sense. First I’ve heard of it.
Thanks,
John

Thanks for this information, would you happen to know any more information on the Oshkosh trucks that they are on? Looking for year make and model?

Hello Porthole are the new clips still holding up I am going to have to do my brakes when I get back home. I have a slight drag on some wheels but no bent clips yet. I would like to find the new clip part number and pads I know you posted the pads (DBC-2250-PAD). No to renew my brakes
Thanks Tim

We have several thousand miles during just less than a year on our DRV 38KSSB (21,000 lbs loaded weight) since I installed the new clips and have had no brake problems. We travel in mountainous areas of the western U.S. and I have the brake gain at 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The wheels turn freely as compared to the dragging we had with the earlier clips. I check our clips every day or so on the road and have not seen any trouble. Get the new clips and enjoy life!

No problems with the newest heavy duty clips.
Still haven't got an answer from Kodiak/Dexter/Rockwell as to why the pads cannot hold up to a full pressure application of the calipers.

Thanks would anybody know if this is the correct part number for the new clips DBC-HD-CLIP. Also is everyone using ceramic pads (DBC-2250-CPAD) or non (DBC-2250-PAD)
*Nobody I have talked to at Dexter knows anything about a clip that is almost 1/4" thick.
Thanks again Tim

I just called Dexter and asked for the clips for the recall - I didn’t have a part number. I first contacted Mobile Suites and they sent me the clips similar to the originals (I’m lead to believe there was more than one version of the recall replacements). I then called Kodiak and they promptly sent me the heavier ones.

Kodiak was supplying ceramic pads for at least the last few years.
