Just a question, no accusation, do you do a pull test with the landing gear down?
I've seen it done.

With the pinbox and hitch plates touching or slip disk sandwiched between, the handle closed and locked and the 1" thick jaws closed around the kingpin there is simply no reason to do a pull test. It's called a "visual test".
Other hitches like the Curt? HE!! yes I would do a pull test every time!!!

My TS-3 has similar jaws but I still do a pull test.
On the TS-3 the release handle only moves about inch between release and lock.

Towed a 5er for 17 years. Never did a pull test. Never had to do a pull test. I knew when jaws were locked.

Pull test or visual test pick your poison. Me likes a hitch I can simply look at to confirm it's HITCHED.

Well - you can ‘look’ at a TS-3 and it can look latched, but unless you either do a pull test with the latch handle or the truck there is no guarantee it is licked in.

That's fine as I am only commenting on the B&W hitch system.
