Fridge Maintenance

Just a heads up for those who haven't seen that the lower, front of the fridge below the freezer drawer needs a cleaning once in a while.

Yup, I took the filter material that I use for the vents and made a filter for the fridge also. It really keeps the condenser fins clean. I’ll take a pic of it.

The tool gets most of whats in front but deeper in, not so much. Looks like an air blast may be the next trick, but thats gonna get messy.

Mine actually looks clean after getting rid of the surface "STUFF". Will give it a blast just for fun.

If the cool air goes in the bottom, where does the heat go?

I see. I opened the doors and saw the space on top. Also dirty. Where have we been the last year or so?

I did the air blast and it works great. I also found a good use for the Airmax fan in the ceiling by the fridge. This one will blow IN.
1. Close all the doors and windows and bath vent.
2. Open the access door behind the fridge, turn the fan on HIGH.
3. Air blast all the stuff outside. And feel the heat.

Of course your experience may vary.
I have the heater vents taped shut for the summer and I have added weather stripping to the slides.

Here is a picture with the material on the lower grate. I leave it a little long to cover the space between the grate and the wood shelf that the fridge sits on. It really keeps the fins MUCH cleaner. I change it every month when I do the air intakes.

Good tip.

I like the idea of using the fan and opening the outside access door, hadn't thought of that.

Now If I can figure out way the microwave hood vent - doesn't.

I also cut little slits to allow the protrusions to go through the filter. This also helps keep it tight in place.
