"Has a spring loaded vertical rod that pockets into a recess at each end of travel."

No it's only on the bottom. You just put down on the tab to make the rod drop into bracket below with a hole, it's called a flush bolt.

If your door was kept stationary like mine it would not have popped from the bracket.

I've been following this thread. On our 2017 Memphis, there isn't enough room to drop the fan and have room to walk under it. The Memphis has the off door slide just about full height, and the door side slide is like everyone else. If I stand in the slide I have less than a foot of headroom and would have to duck under the fan blades.
So, is there an aftermarket fan blade bracket that you can buy that would angle/tilt the blades more in their current location tucked close to the ceiling?

Bill,
Most of the time. But sometimes opinions are truthful as that person sees it but not intirely factual. We all have different point of views and understandings and the way they get articulated. To me that is why debating about something can be very educational. Don’t get me started on agendas. Most have a good honest agenda, and then there are the trolls.

I looked into that as the first solution but I could not find where you could just buy the brackets. Pitch was just part of the problem. The other issue is that the blades were only about an inch from the ceiling. I flush mounted the new fan at first. There was some improvement, but not what I was looking for. I then installed the down rod and really saw a significant amount of air flow.
Not sure what to tell you but maybe to measure what clearance you would need and try to find a fan that would fit your specs. This is how I started the search.

Well, wanted to report back on the fan performance. I currently have 900 miles on this trip and the fan is performing flawlessly. We’ve traveled through the middle of Texas to Okie City, to Palo Duro, and am now west of Amarillo. The fan blades are~2 inches below the slide, and the way that I have locked in the ball/rod, nothing has moved, and it’s still rock solid. We’ve camped in open sun everyday, with temperatures in the upper 90’s, and the ac would not have cooled the coach without the fan. I am well pleased, and would recommend this upgrade to anyone. If you don’t have the expertise, hire someone.

Installed our new ceiling fan this morning. This is a 48" with a 12" down rod.
When I removed the flush mounted fan, the wire that is supposed to secure the fan from falling was not hooked up. I will say that the box was well secured to the ceiling by way of the aluminum struts. Easy install for anyone and a 100% plus on the amount of air this fan moves now. Very happy with the results.

I just read through this post and noticed that the pictures of my fan are not correct. The fan should be bright, brushed nickel with mahogany blades and is a beautiful fan. The pictures show a dark colored fan. The only reason that I think that is important, is that I have posted ordering information, and someone may not order it because of the coloring.

As long as they know what model fans were used should be good as it shows them what it will look like. They can always go to the manufactures web site and see what other finish’s are available.

Last 4 RV's have had Maxx Air or Fantastic Fans in the bedroom! Never will be without the ability to ventilate bedroom and the white noise is very nice also.
