Furnace????

Needed the furnace on last night. Set it, went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night, no heat. Check the propane tanks, one at 51% the other at 95%. Check the shut off valves, both are one.

Back into the RV, shut the furnace off, wait a few minutes, turn it back on. Furnace kicked in and ran the rest of the night with no problem.

Question, anyone else ever have this problem?

Is this the precursor to some unknown major problem I'm going to experience?

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

If you have the sliding temp type analog temperature control panel, you might want to replace it with a digital panel that indicates the temperature settings in actual numbers. Replacement is pretty simple. Buy the digital panel, snap of the front panel of the original, remove two screws holding it to the wall and then use the existing color code on the original panel, replacing the wires one by one to the new panel (UTUBE video). For less than$50, you have a more accurate indication of the temps you want to set and live with in the future. I know this does not answer the original question but it may fix the problem as well.

If you hadnít used the furnace for a while prior to this incident you probably just had some air in the line that kept the furnace from lighting. Youíll have that problem occasionally with the fridge and maybe the water heater too.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe if there is no propane pressure at the furnace it will not start up and run. It would thin it does this so the furnace will not damage itself.

Anyone that has upgraded to a digital thermometer, please post a picture or list the name and model number of the upgrade.

I think this is something that I would like to do.

Both black and white units seem to have the same product number so I do not know how to tell them apart

Just do a google search. Lots of detailed info and videos on youtube.

Its as simple as Thehobe1 said. 5 minute job to switch.

I added a Honeywell digital thermostat with touch screen in the main salon of our Hurricane. So far works great. The residential thermostat has only provision for 1 fan speed. This one also lists auto switching from a/c to heat.Click image for larger version

One speed is all i need. High speed. Remember to keep AAA batteries on hand. Thats what powers these thermostats. Batteries should last several years

AA in this one. I added a similar one in the bedroom with less features which uses AAA.

It if you order online you will be asked to choose a color before it will accept your order. Like ordering a shirt or something. All of the colors and sizes are the same shirt and you have to specify the selection you need.

Our Dometic T stat is tied into the 12V system and does NOT require batteries. This is standard equipment on more recent DRV's.

Controls my 3 AC units, propane furnace and also the Cheap Heat.
