Gas Springs mounts coming loose

Anyone have a fix for gas springs coming loose from slam hatches? Screws just pulling out of doors. I though I saw something on the problem some time ago, but can't find it. Thanks.

Do you mean the bracket the connects the shock to the door? You can put bigger heftier screws in it. Or DRV now has a slightly larger bracket that they install.

You can also glue it with the larger screws...

We had the same problem. When I looked closely at the gas strut I discovered that it wasn't installed parallel to the door. The mount on the door was almost an inch further in from the edge of the door than the mount on the frame. Each time the door was opened it was pulling the door mount to the side. I moved the door mount in alignment withe the frame mount and it eliminated the problem. I also discovered when the mount was moved that there is s piece of plastic in the door to drill into.

They gave me some metal pcs about 3"x4" to screw to the door then screw the bracket to the plate.

Home Depot has electrical box covers which can be mounted to door and the gas shock spring mounted to the metal plate. Works good and they are cheap. Here is a link.. 4 in. Square Blank Cover, Flat-8752 - The Home Depot

door attachment for gas spring

Hi

My coach came without an entry door attachment for the gas shock. Does anyone have a pic of the fitting?
