Water quick connects

I just got these quick water connects from Amazon this morning,https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I went right to work installing them. First tried it on flushing the black tank out. Turned the water on at it leaked between the male and female cupling. I then pulled the female piece off and reversed the rubber o'ring. Put it back together and it still leaked. I even double check the connection to my hose and black tank flush inlet. They were tight, as I had pancakes for breakfast this morning.





So what quick connects are being used that work well and do not leak?

That pretty well reflects the success I had with quick connects over the years. Tried cheap plastic ones, expensive brass ones and everything in the middle. Finally just gave up and went back to the old school.

I agree... the K.I.S.S. principle seems to usually work the best!

If the package did say Nelson "quick brass connectors", you got the imported imitation brand which always leak. Nelson brass connectors will leak after about 10 years of use but the replacement gaskets are available to stop the leak.

I bought the plastic ones at some hardware store & have been leak free for a couple years.

I bought a set that looks like yours at Lowes, leak free for over a year.

I do not like fumbling with hose threads in my water bay hatch. So I picked up some of those (look identical) at H-D. I've not noticed any leaks, particularly on the one I have on the Andersen valve inlet. I especially like using them on the tank flush inlets, which drain back from the siphon breaker anyway when disconnected. I have at least as many as you purchased and interchange them at times. I've been pleased with them, although no doubt after saying that I will jinx them, huh?

I bought several pairs "on clearance" at Farm & Fleet right after we bought the Suites. I installed the male ends on the black and grey flush first just to see how well they worked. Later on I put one on the fresh water. Haven't had ANY leaks yet with mine. I must've gotten lucky, so far so good.

I have a bag full of Q-Cs that haven't worked well over time. Brass seems to be worst at being leakfree over time, plastic--well, works nearly as well and cheaper. I have come across plastic with a 'brass'-look finish that are really cheesy and don't last.
Right now, I have my Anderson valve and flush valves manifolded together fed with a plastic Q-C that has lasted for 6 months without leaking...

I had NO idea brass fittings were bad. Learned something new here today. Mine are brass, I bought in the "clearance bin" at Blain's Farm & Fleet, didn't realize they'd be bad. LOL

I'm being sarcastic, I've been using these for 4 years now without any leaks. I do however have to tighten the male ends to the couplers on the RV once in a while. I love how easy they work and I don't find myself "struggling" to turn the water hose fitting onto my RV fitting in that small, cramped space.

I have two female ends I store in the water compartment, one for when I hook up fresh water to fill our tank and another one I have marked for use on the black & grey tank flush. I simply screw the appropriate one on the end of the hose I'm needing to use. DON'T forget to take the quick connect off the CG hose when finished!

Got mine over a year ago from Home Depot. Have them on the Grey, Black and Main Water connections. Also have them on my pressure gauge.

Good quality hoses with good quality washers I have zero issues. I tighten one hose in my outside compartment when setting up and the other end at the pedestal. Regulator if needed. I have a "Y" setup for the black and grey flush so no hose connect needed there.

Ron, that is not a water quick connect. . Those are 90 degree elbows connected to a y pipe with shut offs.

I use Yardworks quick connect brass couplers. They have worked well for years. Have them on all my water connections. Got them from Menards.

Not 100% sure but if the blank tank flush valve does not have a check valve, won't the gas/smell from a quick connect installed at the flush valve release unless you keep a cover (as is on the flush valve) on the quick connect? I have these same quick connects and they work fine on the fresh water connects. Hesitated using them on black tank flush for reasons mentioned above.

Per code all of the flush valves should have a back flow device from the factory. Dealer or owner may or may not install. A smart one would to prevent cross contamination of water supply. I could not imagine a problem as you describe, even without them.

A question...

What is the id of the quick connects? Just today I swapped out a 90degree fitting which had a 1/2 inch id for one with larger.
I am expecting to get better flow.

Are the quick fittings restrictive?

M
