We had pea sized sleet for about 5 minutestoday. But it looks like it is going to be REALLY cold at the Ranch in NM.
This is where we spent our x-mas. I was surprised how many people were there.

I'm a bit confused. Was this picture taken in Texas or New Mexico. It almost looks like Palo Duro Canyon.

Oh, and Happy New Year.

It is a picture of Palo Duro Canyon in TX just south of Amarillo.

I was there in TX on Christmas Day and then moved to NM on the 26th. I have been moving so much, sometimes I forget where I am. LOL

Ryan,
You're at the Ranch? Was there last year, nice place but kind of isolated...

Joe,
Yes I was. First time at a SKP park. The people there were very friendly. I think we were the youngest people there by far. Yes it is a bit isolated. The worst part was the SMELL that came when the wind shifted in a certain direction. To me it smelled like @ss. LOL
I was told it comes from the oil fields near by.
Ryan

Ryan,

Having spent many years working in the oilfields, that was the smell of....MONEY.

If you need a space in Deming anytime, the DreamCatcher SKP park is nice, as is the LoW-Hi park 4 miles south. LoW-Hi is a PPA park and very reasonable. However, it is hard to sleep while there as there is no airport/RR tracks/interstate nearby for 'white' noise.....

Joe,
Funny you mention Deming. That is our next stop. I found a PPA CG that is close to DreamCatcher. I will check out DreamCatcher when we are there.

Ryan,
There appear to be 5 PPA CGs in Deming, but we have only stayed at the LoW Hi park that is 4 miles south of town. Very peaceful, large sites. PPA rates all the time, no time limit, IF they have the space. If this isn't where you will be, might take the time to check it out also. The DreamCatcher SKP park usually has lots of available sites and easy walk to Quality Inn that has restaurant and bar. Believe the SKP rate was $22. If you are heading east, Desert Willow in Van Horn, TX, is PPA--3 nights @ $13.50 FHU.

Heading West to California. Man are there a lot of CG here... What is the draw? It looks like the weekly at SKP was $134, 50 amp and they looked WIDE OPEN when we drove by it. The weekly at Roadrunner RV is $119. That is with 5 PPA and two reg nights. I use PPA all the time. Best membership out there by FAR. I just hope my TT zone pass pays off.

I believe the draw is 'being 1/2 way to nowhere' and needing a spot for the night...

Safe Travels.
